This is why I say the pedophile hysteria is just pointless.

Eventually pedophiles will be accepted and you can hate something else, these things go in cycles.

It wasn't very long ago it was perfectly acceptable to think of black people as lesser beings, now all of a sudden saying such things will shock people.

It wasn't very long ago it was perfectly acceptable to make fun of homosexual people, and point out how their "brains are defective". Nowadays this is not acceptable.

Pedophiles are next, all of a sudden your "kiddy fiddler" jokes will be looked down upon.
Not sure if I agree entirely here, but I agree with where you're coming from. Once upon a time in ancient Greece it was viewed as normal for a married man to have young boys as concubines.

OT: What a dick of a Walmart employee

This is WIN by any standard

Now on topic: I think America is beyond hope of recovery from 9/11 because now everyone is so paranoid you can't even take pictures of your own fucking kids!

Six months ago, I think, there was a news story about two 12 year old girls that were arrested and charged for obscene photography/distributing pornography by taking photos of themselves nude on camera phone and then showing them to guys (13), who also got arrested.

Strangely enough, I can remember getting changed into my swimming kit in the middle of the classroom surrounded by other girls and boys. (Back when I was 5-6)

The media frenzy over everyone being a potential paedophile is almost sicker than the paedophiles themselves. But there's nothing that sells papers like rumours of sexual abuse. Sickening.

what.... the.... fuck....!

this is another reason why americans as a whole have such a bad name in other countries.
(no offence to you normal americans, i'm referring to the general stereotype)

well i think kudos to the parents for sueing walmart, though really they dont have much of a chance, seeing as they're fighting against a corporate giant with the best lawyers, mountains of money, etc...

...What does this have to do with Americans? Other than it taking place in America?
Because this wouldn't happen anywhere else besides the US. The level of paranoia over there is insane. This would never happen in Australia, people tend to be more level-headed.

What a bunch of idiot's, taking pictures of your children when they are young is a normal thing. It's for memories, my parents did it for my siblings and myself although i don't know where they are at the moment..

Well ... To be frank if they just came up to Walmart wanted Paedophile pictures developed. They'd be the worst Paedophiles ever.

This is just sad. Every parent has pictures of their kid(s) running around naked. I have several in my scrapbook. My mom used to use them to embarrass me in front of friends (especially girls).
And this. My mum has loads of pictures like that off me. Its stupid.

It's not pride, it's to kill your pride. Big ego? Get out the scrapbook.
Big ego seeing I can't understand the emotional responses that appear to govern the desire to have children? I can not follow your reasoning, doesn't seem egotistical at all to recognise when one isn't capable or responsible enough yet to have children.

Edit: Ahh, on re-reading I had more insight... I worked night shift so forgive me for having less of an ability to comprehend. You mean for it to be a way to embarrass your children if they should show any inclination of having too big of an ego?

Well, at least we have got a couple who are suing for a very good reason (for once, in the media) and that hysteria over the 'pedophile' pictures is just stupid.
Seriously, i think everyone has those pictures taken in the age before you could control your life.

The difference is, there's nothing inherently wrong with black people or gays.

first of all I think picture developers shouldn't be able to look at the pictures because they might be private. I don't think that would be too hard to do.
Second of all, I think people should stop being retarded..ok I know they can't but I still have hope.

I would say it would have to be taken in context. If someone comes in and wants 10 rolls of film processed and it's nothing but pictures of children in bathtubs, then it may warrant a second look. If a person comes in with 10 rolls of film, and one of those rolls is of children in a bathtub, and the rest are of a family vacation, with the children having fun and the family enjoying themselves then it's parents stockpiling cute photos to embarrass their children with later. I understand the policy, but it's gotten out of control. Cute pictures of your kids interspersed with vacation and family photos is completely different from nothing but children naked in a bath tub. But personal intelligence and responsibility is lost in the huge maze of corporate policy and fear of losing your job for not reporting something. My family photo albums have a few pictures of the children naked, or taking a bath together, which while personally are embarrassing they don't exactly paint my parents as pedophiles.

You cannot trust anyone these days.

What right did walmart have to look at the photographs anyway?

Plus there was no evidence of sexual abuse, just some kids, their own kids, splashing about in a bath.

If taking pictures of your own children in the bath warrents sexual abuse, most of our parents would be in prison right now.

I hope they win this one. Common sense needs this win.

as i often do when i see something like this , i try and 'flip it' to what would have been reported if these parents werent reported and it turned out they WERE pedos and those 'harmless' pictures were nothing of the kind, or just the few that somehow got left on the card after the ones showing daddy diddling them were deleted.

i say this, the pictures COULD have been evidence in something more than innocent bath time photos. the person reporting them did the proper thing imo and the agency charged with child welfare checked it out, seems to have found nothing wrong, the parents get their children back and move on.

if i was the parents, if anything id be HAPPY that i had a local CPS that was on the ball and doing their job for a change. we as a society ***** when things 'slip through the cracks' then when someone trys to make sure that it doesnt happen we seem to want to ***** about THAT.
i think its a fine thing it got reported, it got investigated and the children (who ARE after all the main concirne here) were protected. so it turned out nothing untword was going on, so what? better to be safe than sorry. and id certianly want judgments about what kind of nude childrens photos are ok being decided by a CPS investigation, than too leave it up to the judgment of the local photo-hut flunky.
