These arguments are both familiar, and irrelivant.

It's the same old story, comic books have gone through it, movies have gone through it, TV, Power Rangers, cartoons, hell, even Dungeons and Dragons went through something similar to this. People who don't understand something immediately assume it's bad for their children.

My only real concern now is that today, people are just stupid enough to buy into something this retarded.

Here's hoping that the Supreme Court is as smart as we pay them for.

I say that they should fix the television first (Not that there is anything wrong with it) since it's part of the there name then go towards attempting to fix video games. Oh yea and these are parents who think there kids are perfect and are probably stricket Christians. (Not that there is anything wrong with them)

This is how it works.

I have a freeview box. With two button presses I could get porn. So could a kid.

With one button press I could watch say... Saw 2, which was on the other night. So could a kid.

To get a violent game, a kid would need about fifty dollars, proof of ID and a graduation from puberty.

Or more likely, a fuckwit of a parent to buy their Grand Theft Autos or their Halos etc only to go on the internet and create sites, groups and committees promoting how evil they are.

So no, Television people. I do not accept your argument. Go be misinformed and steal taxpayer's money being useless in some other area of government.

Also - the industry is full of thugs and bullies? Welcome to industry. ANY industry. ESPECIALLY television. We're talking about an industry where actors get hate mail for the characters they portray and death threats when a show gets cancelled... measured up to people writing that they support a law that is the first and utmost FUNDAMENTAL right of every citizen of the country and nothing else, and we're "thugs" and "bullies". Really now.

No one said that.
The problem is that people have always been inherently stupid.
Stupidity has been around for a long time, and it's not going away.

I don't think it's necessarily that - I reckon it's more to do with more forms of mass media being available to promote this kind of BS to a wider audience.

Yup, because gamers can really throw their weight around in this situation. Has anyone in America aside from actual gamers listened to our side at all?

Fucking hypocrites.
Well, atleast we have Stan Lee on our side.

Sounds like old conservatives wanting more power and money to me by condemning everything the young and hip do.

But TBH I'm fine with them claiming victory for regulating the sale of mature games to children. I'm a secondary school teacher and I am quite sick of my 12-16 year old students asking me "DO YOU PLAY COD?". Yes of course I do I tell them. Now get back to your probability assignment!

PTC. What a joke it should be TC. Television Council. To even call themselves parents is bullshit. Blame the industry for your own ineptitude to raise and govern your own children? They're nothing but a bunch of pathetic wretches "throwing a temper tantrum" to muzzle gaming because they are too fucking lazy to tell little Billy to shut the fuck up and wait till he's old enough to play "Shoot Them In The Face 35 : Booby edition".

The sad truth is: they are. This is either because 20, 40, and 60 years ago, the dumb ones died of at work accidents, or they have been allowed to procreate, causing there to be more stupid people out there.

YOU F*CKING PRICKS YOU DON'T KNOW JACK SH*T ABOUT ANYHTING!!!

Erm... mean, "what a bunch of silly nonsense."

Ugh, I really hate these kind of people. If you're so worried about your kids safety, then pay attention to what they're doing and read the friggin' label on the cover! I mean it's right there! You don't need a PhD in philosophy to figure out that when a game says it's rated mature, then it's for mature gamers! JEBUS!!!

I thought there was already a way of preventing kids from getting violent video games. I think it's called parenting?

The trouble with the PTC is that they seem to have overlooked that there already is a system to stop the sale of adult games to minors which can be overruled by parental consent. The fact that parents are willing to buy the games is proof in itself that games are not methods of Satan which influence our children towards sex and violence, THEY'RE JUST FUCKING GAMES.

Plus, this television watchdog allows graphic violence to be shown every day on US television but sex and bad language are considered taboos. Something is very, very wrong. It's fine to desensitise children to horrible violence which God forbid should never happen, but swearing and sex which they will come into contact almost daily when they're grown up is evil? I don't understand any opposition to violence they have, unless its the new MoH - killing poor darkies is good, but killing Americans is bad; very easy to figure out, they being a conservative group and all and, therefore, thick as pigshit.

Oh the wonderful irony of the Parents TELEVISION Council, watchdogs of "responsibility and decency to the entertainment industry" are pointing at US for "selling sex and violence to children".

This entirely, why is it the industries responsibility to keep violent games out of the hands of children? This is just parents being too lazy to watch what their own kids are doing.

My thoughts exactly, thank you. I have to show my ID every time I buy a M rated game, so my question is what exactly do these "parents" think that big fat M stands for?

Claiming that the industry "sells sex and violence to children" is laughable at best. Sure some of the best games today have sex and violence but have they forgotten to power that these things can hold in an artistic medium? Would Schindler's List been a far superior movie if they covered up every death with a sign saying "They went and lived happily ever after!" and photo shopped clothes onto the people in the scene with the people being paraded in front of the doctors? No, it would have lost all the emotional impact and bastardized the entire point of the movie, which is the effect this law would have on games, complete bastardization of the entire industry.

And I love how they quote games, who at this this point aren't even socially relevant, like GTA4 and treat them like they are the foremost example of "games are art". I'm sorry but no. GTA is the equivalent of Jason X, a stupid romp that's laughable only because of how exaggerated it is. (I'm not trying to say that the GTA games have no merit, but trying to put them forward would be shooting yourself in the foot)
