Furthermore, you can still mute the people you don't wish to listen to. It's really not going to be all that different. The only real impact is that you can't talk to people not playing MW2 while you're playing it - good, that should help your concentration.

That's a very big difference. Plus, muting requires you to find the guy in the screen and muting him. Not very long, only a few seconds, but an unnecessary hassle, just because I can't talk to my friends who haven't bought the game, haven't bought the game yet, or are playing something else or are just not in my exact game, on my team.

anyway, back on topic, this bugs me. it's a video game. talking to my friends makes the game even more fun for me. so...they're taking away something fun. look, I play CoD4 for fun, not so I can "pwn evry1" and try to have the best kill/death ratio. I really don't care about that stuff...I just wanna have a good time with my friends

Then get all of your friends together join the fucking lobby and Bam! friends. I on the other hand actually talk to my teammates, my Teammates, and it bugs me to see someone in a private chat because when you are being a douche talking to some one playing some other game, I cant tell you that you are about to get killed by that mine, or whatever.

Oh, and when my Team dominates you I will make sure to tell you in all chat how much I enjoyed it.

2. I much perfer talking to my friends who are either immature 2/5 of the time, douche bags 1/2 of the time, then 1/10 you get someone who is actually cool/funny/whatever.

OT: Don't really care for party chat. I have a PS3 and a 360, and I barely ever use party chat enough for it to matter.

You can't join a party while in a game, and when entering a game you are kicked from the party.

Um, did you even look at the screenshot? It says you have to switch to game chat. You stay in the party, it just switches your chat channel.

Eh they are just doing their best to make the MP fair and cheat free. It's no big deal, it just helps those of us who want a cheat free game. Granted there is probably a few who actually use party chat while doing some TDM but still if your desperate to be ing 24/7 chatting with friends call them or just stay in party chat and play uno or something.

If it had a legit chance of lowering cheating, I'd be willing to argue in favor of it but:
1)This would only stop cheating in the Search and Destroy gametypes, as those are the only games where, when you die, you can't talk to teamates unless they're already dead or you're in a party
2)Very few people use this to cheat anyway. It's somewhat of a problem in Gears of War, but we aren't talking about GoW right now.

Well said, but this is hardly a flame war. I've only flamed one guy in my life, and it was here, in a discussion about Call of Duty in fact but over a year ago. I was agitated, typing in improper grammar and my arguments had degenerated into dribbling insults.

The reason I signed that petition isn't just because I want something, it's because Infinity Ward need to stop before they ruin their own game with change. Change and innovation are good to a point, but when you break something to change it, that is insanity.

I'm not just angry at them either, I'm trying to get them to see that what they're doing to PC Gamers and Console Gamers alike is the wrong path for them to take in making their game. Their not doing something in the game thats irritating me, their influencing my entire XBL experience and that's something no game company should be able to do. When I'm on their servers, in their game and earning my money's worth, it is their game to fuck with, but when I'm on their game they do not get to mess with who I'm talking to.

As long as I pay for the game it doesn't matter, some people say. Well, yes. It does. It may not matter to Infinity Ward with their hearts of stone, but when I've payed for an experience in total, and they've fucked it up, it matters to me.

IW are making mistakes that are avoidable, or rather, were avoidable. What they are doing now is alienating a good player base and ruining the game they've tried so hard to make popular, they've gone over the edge of common sense and have hurt themselves in the process. They have lost many sales in the PC market, and some in the console market, without need. I'm not petitioning for my wants, I'm petitioning for their needs.

That would be a step in the right direction, to be sure, but it would be even better if they could restrict it so that you simply can't use it to talk to people on other teams in the same game. Of course, even the compromise you suggested would be nigh impossible to implement, this sort of thing needs to be made on an all-or-nothing basis, or it won't work at all.

Well actually I'm guilty here too, no matter my opinion on the thing. I'm guilty of 3, at times (whenever I'm losing) and partially of 2, I do play CoD a lot and by that definition I could just play another game. Interesting how one argument works both ways.
