But I was referring to the petitions in general.
They dont have a right to petition something that isn't theirs, and that they don't own, or buy.
You cant demand someone change THEIR product, before you are even a customer.

Sure you can. Jack Thompson did and still does it all the time. The Australian Ratings board isn't a customer of the games they rate, but they demand changes. American citizens have the right to demand change even if they don't pay their taxes. Are they wrong to do so? Everyone who pays for XBL has a right to disagree with the rendered service, especially when it is for selective things like this.

This is the internet. We can petition anything, for any reason. It doesn't mean it is going to happen, but there is always a chance that increased awareness can create change. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, so we might as well speak up now BEFORE we get lubed up for this kind of narrow-sighted restriction.

OK, all of you people saying "Oh boo hoo go whine about something else" have obviously never used this feature. Ever since the NXE, there hasn't been one time that I haven't used this feature while playing with friends.

I agree that it should be restricted in Search and Destroy, but every other mode? I don't even talk when I'm not in a party. You know why? I'll say to my friend "You know, we should invite ____ after this game". This is promptly greeted by at least 3 10-year-olds named "X supA sn1p3r ii x" yelling "Shut up you ****** or I'll fuck your mum!".

I despise playing with random people for this reason. If the team isn't a bunch of loudmouth idiots, it's the polar opposite, where NOBODY talks. Other than Searh and Destroy with friends, there is no strategy to be discussed in COD. Even then, we'd rather talk about what happened today or a funny video we saw. You know why? It's just a fucking game that I play to relax! Since when does the game need to have tournament-strict rules? I don't want to win that badly.

To people saying "Use private chat then", well, no, you can't. That's one on one, which is pretty much useless. Also, to people saying "get a party of friends so you're all on the same team", you are constantly interrupted by loading screens and the shouts of the other team in the lobby, as the OP said. I, for one, don't want to have to go back to muting each person individually on the team at the beginning of every game.

Yes, the amount of petitions are getting annoying, but this one hits millions of people hard. We paid for this feature, and it greatly increases our enjoyment of the game, so why not protest? Sure it probably won't do anything, but at least IW knows how many people it pissed off. We're also protesting about something that will seriously hamper the game experience, not something insignificant like "we wAnTz m0r3 m0dez hurhur r1p0ff!". What's next, removing headset use during the game? How about not being able to use the dashboard in-game beacuse of its potential for distraction? The point is, this is not IW's feature to restrict. I want what I paid for, end of story.

If you want to quote me to tell me to stop bitching, then don't. You won't change my mind, you'll only piss me off. This thread is to round up support for the petition, not question its validity.

This is pretty much the majority of our arguments right there. Well said too.

Infinity Ward can fuck up their own game as much as they want, and the Internet can petition it. But they start charging me for the "service" they give me in barring me from an outside service that they have no control over, for a fucking good reason apparently, then I start signing things.

It's not just the morons, it's not just the loss of friendly chat. It's the fact that IW are messing with things outside their back yard, and it costs me dearly. I pay for the grass their cutting, to continue the metaphor. Why should I pay them to break my gaming experience with their, probably, great game?

No. Nobody is forcing me to play it. But then again, nobody forces me to have both my legs still attached, or to breathe. I have the right to stop breathing whenever I like, but as it happens, I quite like breathing and walking. And I don't like buying a new set of shoes that cut my legs off, because the makers wanted to make sure that nobody was cheating them.

Furthermore, you can still mute the people you don't wish to listen to. It's really not going to be all that different. The only real impact is that you can't talk to people not playing MW2 while you're playing it - good, that should help your concentration.

That's a very big difference. Plus, muting requires you to find the guy in the screen and muting him. Not very long, only a few seconds, but an unnecessary hassle, just because I can't talk to my friends who haven't bought the game, haven't bought the game yet, or are playing something else or are just not in my exact game, on my team.

You can't always get enough spaces in a lobby for all your friends.

I'm starting to think that people like you have no friends. I'm not going to demand that for a simple conversation everyone must join my game immediately, just because you don't have any friends who don't play on your team, in your game, at your playtime and whenever you want.

And what about when I'm not playing the 360? Plenty of times in my party, people go and play their PC, or watch the TV but still chat.

We are the majority of people who chat casually while playing and enjoy it. This changes that. You are the minority of people who have no mic/do talk with teammates. That's fine for you. But this decision ballses up our playstyle and our gaming experience is shot to fuck by it. It is our fight to complain about, as it makes no difference to you.

As for in-game comms... PFA! I've never played a CoD game where anyone discusses any possible form of tactics apart from their tactics to screw my mother. Hence why I avoid XBL inbreds like the cancerous plague they are, and choose to play the game my way.

PC players were bitched at for doing exactly what console players are doing. Even if it doesn't get the changes fixed (ever or immediately), it still shows that we can take a stand. This particular issue doesn't even affect me (I'm one of the aforementioned PC gamers), but if nothing else, the petition is symbolic of people who are annoyed with Infinity Ward taking too many wrong steps. There is absolutely zero harm that can come from signing the petition, so hey, why not?

A lot of people posting on this thread are the same one that have a problem with the PC fiasco and I have to a lot of the arguements I have seen here for supporting IW moves are complete and other bollox.

I may not be a full console gamer(well anymore) but I know enough about XBL and etc to know that this is another complete bullshit move XBl doesn't exactly work as in just get a party together and play in THIS instance as you can be in a party in the first place the way I understand it.
