This is kinda just something I felt I should share, I guess if anyone's had an experience like this it'd be nice to hear about it too.
Today was a very good day. Today I gave my cousin, who is 6, an introduction to the wonderful world of Pokemon, Sharing something that was a huge part of my childhood with him in quite a special way. I helped him through the introduction, Got him his first pokemon (A Mudkip called "Archie") and set him on his way.
He'll go through his first "Grand adventure" in the world of pokemon. Gym battles, Defeating team Magma, Capturing The legendary Rayquaza, Beating the elite 4 and becoming the pokemon champion and experiencing such a great journey, one that was also experienced by... someone else before him.
A big thing that pokemon, and indeed, any age appropriate game we, as gamers played as kids has brought us is our ability to share our experience with someone younger and close to us, be it cousins, brothes, sisters, daughters and sons, and this something I think many people either don't realise or choose to ignore. A game can become a big part of our childhoods, and something dear to us. A story that we can become a part of, that we can shape. A fantasy world that we can be a part of. And not only that, but something we can pass along to the next generation. Whatever my thoughts on the current generation of pokemon, it will never, ever spoil the wonderful time I had with the others, and to be able to pass it on to the next, and let them experience it how I did is just, overwhelming.
So I'm marking the day, because today a young trainer called Kaian, and a Mudkip called Archie began their first steps into the wide world of Pokemon, As an older Trainer passed the torch.
