You should come to Firefall's forums and read a few threads about it and discuss it. Of course the games have similarities but they're very different from each other.Jake Martinez said:Wait... isn't there already a game that has all these features: Namely, Global Agenda?
It's also FTP with a cash store I believe and has the same "guild" mechanics and even class structure.
There is also the fact that Firefall has been in development for 5 years, will offer no power items in the cash shop, one character can play all the classes (ruling out having to create new toons and grinding for them) and that jetpacks have shorter flight times with faster recharge rates.rammstein812 said:You should come to Firefall's forums and read a few threads about it and discuss it. (seriously though, go thy it. it sounds pretty much like this, and is also F2P)
I hate to self quote, but here are some of the main differences. Also, several GA players have come to the Firefall communities with the same thoughts. Some troll, others actually find out about the game and notice the major differences.Hrockle said:There is also the fact that Firefall has been in development for 5 years, will offer no power items in the cash shop, one character can play all the classes (ruling out having to create new toons and grinding for them) and that jetpacks have shorter flight times with faster recharge rates.rammstein812 said:You should come to Firefall's forums and read a few threads about it and discuss it. The game is actually open to the public this December, with the first beta invites going out within the next week or so.somonels said:Something to look forward to in 2013/2014.
The devs have specifically said NO power items in cash shop. They said "convenience items" so they may sell XP/money boosts, or even basic module packs (that you can get by just spending time finding them). But even if you can buy modules all they do is offer different tactical options. Sure some will be better than others, but for the most part it will just give your battleframe a different tactical advantage, not power.cursedseishi said:Well, I'm definitely curious. The game sounds like its coming out good, and as long as nothing changes for the cash shop, I'll definitely give it a shot. The biggest killer for any Online game for me, is a stupid cash shop. F2P or not, if you can buy power and permanent stat buffs, I'm not interested.
I can understand the worry that it wont live up to expectations, few games do nowadays. Even though it is a new company as far as game development goes, the Developers have some great resumes. From the team lead on WoW, to a lead designer on tribes. Plus a renowned scifi author and his daughter to flesh out the story and insure it is bullet proof. This game has been in the making for 5 years (probably about 6 now), so in a sense you havnt heard much about it until release time, as it was officially announced at last years pax and is being released this december.Alistair_Darkheart said:Totally agree with this, though I'm also worried that it won't live upto expectations. The more I hear of it the more I like the sound of it... but that also makes me fearful of just how they'll screw it up in the end.
There are very few games I've been this excited for that haven't disapointed me come release, infact most of the games I end up enjoying most are the ones I hear very little about until release time.
