Can't say I'm surprised, what with Epic's whole "we won't release Gears on PC because of pirates" thing.

Still though, another game I won't buy. Fine by my, I can use that money for more important things. Like upgrading my pre-order of The Witcher 2 to the collectors edition.

Yes, I'm perfectly willing to shell out a shit-ton of money for a game with no DRM yet will refuse to buy a game with intrusive DRM.

You want my money, then remove the DRM.

Well, sucks to play on the PC, then.
I wasn't going to get this game anyway, but it is disappointing to see such idiotic systems implemented.
My thoughts exactly.

Stupid DRM for a stupid-looking game.

idk

I don't have a problem with this "constant connection" thing, but then again, I only play in a desktop, not a laptop =P
What has Desktop internet and Laptop internet got to do with anything in this case?
idk, it's something I've been told, like, people hate on constant connection DRM because they play on laptops and wanna do it where they may not have internet or something like that

it's an argument I've seen in this forum, so I thought I could use it here =P
If someone has a Laptop, then they'll be getting Wireless...which is only logical, which covers most of the house and neighbors, so no that wouldn't be an issue.

And playing games outside, say at the Airport, on the Airplane and in a Starbucks also isn't a valid excuse since you shouldn't be playing a game that drains your battery life in under 30 minutes.

Honestly, whoever said that (not you I'm assuming) should be smacked on the head. I understand we're trying to make an Anti-Constant Internet Debate for games, but this argument is frankly ridiculous and doesn't have a proven ground of logic to begin with.
A person could you know...bring a charger.

Internet authentication required -> it's a rental game -> I'll consider it when it's $5 or the DRM is patched out.

Who cares if you need a constant connection? PC gaming is usually only on Desktop PC, Gaming Notebook not being used by many people (i`m saying this because this game looks like it`s gonna have some sistem requirements)

+ You can always get a crack and not have to be always connected to the internet
I only consider it fair to use a crack to a game if you have already bought the game from a retailer and the developers create a problem/difficuly that should not be there..See AC2

I just stopped caring about this game.

Seriously Epic botched UT3 completely with demo and release and when sales and when sales were bad they blamed PC gamers and said they'd concentrate on consoles more. Now they get back to PC gaming, saying this will show they still love the PC and they pull this. You know I'm not against having some sort of DRM, but even my DSL line sometimes disconnects and I don't want to be thrown out of game at every hiccup. I also want a demo, because Epic's recent track record on PC just isn't that great.

And no GFWL. Anything but GFWL.

The creative director of this project denies this [http://twitter.com/adrianchm/status/31782783235923968]. But confrims that an internet connection is required to install, removing the only advantage GfWL had over Steamworks.

Considering the internet on my campus sometimes grinds to a halt because so many people are downloading stuff, this is not acceptable for me.First strike,no demo. They left PC gamers out to dry,and without knowing if my PC can handle it,I was going to wait,no they're telling me if I purchase a digital copy(which I do 100% of the time nowadays,I have to rely on my unreliable internet connexion?
No go EPIC,this is such a joke, you might aswell admit you just want to make this game fail on PC to give you an excuse to develop solely for consoles.

Straight from the destructoid article:

"[Update: People Can Fly has denied this. Apparently somebody at EA screwed up somewhere and wrote down the wrong DRM on the company's product disclosure page. People Can Fly is looking into the mix-up. The official line is that the 'net is only required for initial registration."

So it's a yay I guess.

I really do not get this. It is 100% established that this does NOT prevent piracy. Hell it barely slows it down in any way shape or form and the only thing this does is hurts people who purchase it legally. So how exactly does anyone think this is a good idea much less a viable one?

You know I wouldn't even mind the notion of this so much if there was an actual point to it, I mean if it was an instance such as Left 4 dead, where the game is simply superior to play the campaign in co-op mode... having always on DRM wouldnt even be an issue. Sure this is likely to be a game that will be centered around multiplayer anyway, so its not going to be that big of a deal in the scheme of things, But a game like Ass creed where the multiplayer element is such a small one, having that restrictive level of DRM is just insulting.

It would not suprise me to see people who never pirate games legitimately purchase a game with this kind of DRM and then go and download the work around crack utilized by the pirated copies just to get around all this illogical nonsense.

That tweet made my day. Fucking internets. Awesome.

Whatever, I'm getting it on console.
It feels like it was designed for console, if I'm honest.
Don't call me right on that one, it's just the impression I got when I played the demo.
Great times on Xbox 360 here I come.
I envy all of you who get it on console, the controls were just amazing. Sure we get shinier graphics but bad controls are the number 1 breaker of the fourth wall. I guess the only thing to do is go back play UT 99 & UT 2k4. *Sigh*

Slow down, if you read it, it says you only need a constant internet connection if you purchase it digitally. You don't need a constant internet connection if you buy it in a store. http://www.ea.com/1/product-eulas
quoted for misrepresentation of the truth. if you buy it digitally, then you do have to have a constant connection. so that means the steam version, if there's gonna be one, is gonna have that thing as well.

Woah wait, wtf is this even doing here anymore??? The fact that none of it was true makes everything that has been argued about completely unneeded. This is like complaining that Team Fortress 2 doesn't have any teams, it just isn't true and arguments based on that idea are stupid and unneeded. Well.....that sucks.
