No. You think this will be EFFECTIVE?

Oh, IW will be so angry that about 10 random people on the internet have had a 'nerd raeg' and refuse to buy their game?

Ooooh, that'll kill their company!

Just STFU. Noone likes boycotts, they don't work, they annoy people and the people who do them don't understand that what they're doing is wonderfully innefectual.

If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything.

Its not your place to tell Infinity Ward how to make their game. If you don't like it, don't buy it and stop making annoying threads about it.
They make the games for us because we're the ones that buy and play the things, not them. If you get your haircut you don't expect to ask for a certain cut and then the barber just do whatever he likes, whilst charging more.
And he only cuts the sides.

When you complain, he acts surprised.

"Oh, it's more for the top", he says.

"How much?"

"4.99"

You leave.

Honestly, what are you gonna do by boycotting? Every PC gamer in the world could pass up MW2 and it's still gonna be a juggernaut of a game, so why try fighting it?
So because we know it will be successful, that means we shouldn't try and stand up for what we believe is right? I can't quite follow that logic.

THEN DON'T FUCKING TELL US TO BOYCOTT IT. SIMPLY BOYCOTT IT YOURSELF IN SILENCE. Now please, take your fucking dictionary, and beat yourself over the head with it, you smug prick. What I've been trying to say is that people who make ORGANIZED boycotts or who declare that they are boycotting it are almost as annoying as you. I couldn't give less of a shit what your dictionary says if I was trying to.
If you're American, it's called freedom of speech and right to assembly. We have every right to say and boycott what we want.

I have to say, I find it almost unfathomable how people are getting so pissed off at people boycotting an issue that they quite clearly don't care about. If it doesn't concern you, why are you so determined to silence the people it DOES concern?

I'm getting it on 360, so I can sit back and interestedly watch as you "boycott" the game in vain.
QFT. No amount of PC boycott can prevent this game from breaking all kinds of sales records and online player records. Think Halo 3, except multiplatform and actually good.

Really? Really? That's what you're complaining about? If it matters so much to you, don't get the game and play the Half-Life mods, but trying to start a boycott that will do absolutely nothing is a waste of your time and ours.
I agree with you.. Stick to your old games I on the other hand wil be enjoying playing MW2

...and when people are talking about how great of an experience it is I hope you feel like an idiot.

This air of superiority some of you non-boycotters have is amazing. People are taking a stand because a developer essentially kicked the entire PC platform in the balls...and you're looking down upon the PC gamers?

it will be great on the xbox and ps3 because (myself included) thats what the console tards are use too, they cant see why its such a big issue for the pc community. I was planning on getting mw2 for the pc along with our clan, but since the news, we no longer want the game and will be getting a bad company 2 server when that comes out. I have cod4 and cod5 on the xbox and pc, and i must say i enjoyed the experience better on the pc due to the choice of servers, instead of being put with a group of screaming 2 year olds who think there amazing at the game.

You're not the best example of this phenomenon, but it's still there.

I'm didn't really follow the L4D 2 boycott... but as far as I could understand most of them disbanded because they felt that their goals had been met by Valve...

You're exactly right. The two main organizers disbanded the boycott because they felt their goals had been met to the best of their abilities

So really, even if the minority of PC gamers (myself included) don't end up having any impact at all...where's the harm in trying?

Maybe yours, so go enjoy the game if you have no objections.
Its just a matter of principle among PC gamers that we expect the right* to dedicated servers and modding. To boycott the game sends the message that being able to host dedicated servers and mod the game are crucial selling points, and with those gone, the community no longer wants the game.

Hence,
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/95923-Angry-PC-Gamer-Skips-MW2-Sends-60-Bucks-to-DICE-Instead
Although this makes me laugh because this whole drama is playing out like PC gamers and Infinity Ward broke up, and then DICE caught PC gamers on the rebound.

What a world.

I simply hate coming on to the Escapist, a once nice and entertaining forum, to find that it's devolved into a bunch of idealist idiots who think that their boycaotts will actually affect anything. You can try all you want, the game is still going to sell. I give up. It's obvious that no one realizes that all I'm trying to say is "BOYCOTT IN SILENCE" Because you're all too fucking high on yourselves to pay attention to what other people say.
Not that I really care but... why do you even read these threads if they make you so angry? Why not simply avoid them and stop writing replies to them. There's nothing else you can say or do about it. The boycott is going to end sooner or later, either because the boycotters got their wishes or because people simply lost interest and moved on. Until then you'll just have to avoid posts/threads concerning the boycott unless you're actually enjoy being irritated and posting annoyed/angry replies to people/threads.
