Context? Look if you want to bash Bob's opinion you can do so in the comment thread for his video.
If you don't want people to talk about the damn subject, then don't include it in the fucking posts.

From what I see, all you're doing is listing evidence to contradict his statement until you toss out the generic "wut u think" sentence so you don't get hammered from a no-discussion thread. So why don't you follow you're own bloody advice and comment in his thread?
He did. That's where the video first appeared.

Then, he made a thread with it because it was buried so deep.

Don't be so hostile.

So, Im going out on a limb here to ask, why the fuck can`t I game on a TV that doesn`t cost $1200? "Can`t game"?. It games just fine, unless your the type of person that absolutley needs and must have a gigantic 40 inch 1080p plasma. And if your that type of of person, build a PC. You obviously got some money to blow, why not build a kick ass gaming PC station for yourself.

Also, you can use a $360 32` 1080p TV as a moniter/tv combo, but you hit a few roadblocks when you try to use a $500 `30 moniter. PC gaming isn`t dying, it`s becoming more available to a wider audience. It`s too bad that it`s still way out of some people price ranges.
Can't game, meaning most games have text, and that text is completely unreadable on a CRT TV. I would like to be able to see what I'm doing rather than peer at some blur of pixels. Especially since I play a lot of RPGs and I don't generally play shooters, that means there's going to be a lot of text in my games.
And I don't know where you can get a 1080p TV for $300. Certainly not in my country! But I can get a 24 inch widescreen monitor for just over $200. A 30 inch monitor, while nice to have, is complete overkill when you're sitting as close as you do when using a PC. That 24 inch monintor will also give a far higher resolution than a 1080p TV. Trying to use a 32 inch TV as a monitor would look like crap if it's only able to give me 1080 horizontal lines at that size. Hell, my phone gives me better than 720p horizontal lines on it's tiny screen, even if it's not quite up to doing 1080p.
My point being that when you include total costs (PC and monitor vs console and TV) it's no more expensive to game on a PC than it is on a console. In fact it can be cheaper to game on PC if you're willing to buy an older cheaper 3D card that is capable of no better graphics than current gen consoles.

To those worried about GPU lifecycle - graphics have hit a plateau thanks to the consoles, so multi-platform games have been limited for a while now. This means that your graphics card should last you a while.

PC exclusives for the most part stay on the same track, though often times a game will come out like Crysis that'll put even the monster systems to shame. To be fair though Crysis 1 was poorly optimized.

So while were on the GPU topic....
ATI/AMD or Nvidia?
You want a good gaming experience or do you like burning money?
Gaming experience.
Then it changes often. Most of the time the best Price V Performance card will be ATI/AMD (although at the moment it might be the nVidia 560Ti, making it 2 in a row for them but AMD haven't released any midrange 6000 series cards yet, so who knows what'll happen then.). For higher end stuff it tends to alternate according to your budget until you reach the Flagship models were they're so fucking expensive you might as well not bother.

nVidia are on top at the moment with pure top end performance and price V performance... but considering they didn't release a single chipset worth pissing on between the 8000 series and the 400 series they're probably due a good run.

Price/performance ratio is currently quite linear, alternating between nVidia and ATI.
So on that note, so long as you don't get anything so cheap it's rubbish, either company will do.

Right this second, however .. the most powerful video card out there is the HD 6990.
Though I expect the GTX 590 to beat it once it gets released, I expect the price to be unreasonably high.
Either which way, high end video cards are a waste of money.

You, sir, have won. I'll also reference your video as well, as there seems to be an on going console vs pc debate going on at my school, and the console fanboy is pulling facts right out of his ass, and denies any argument against him, despite all the SOLID facts and references used. Now I, of course, don't like debating with a rock, but a friend of mine apparently does, so I'll just e-mail this video to him. Thumbs up for you!

A 6850 seems to be good, though I`d rather wait for bulldoze and the HD 7000 seris to come out. But then some new big thing will be looming and at this point my head starts spinning.
I wouldn't bother waiting for Bulldozer, personally. It looks to be a brilliant design and an excellent new approach but 18-24 months after it's release AMD plan to introduce a 22nm CPU series (BD is 32) so it looks to be heading for an extremely short support cycle, especially faced against the fact that Intel will be releasing it's own Ivy Bridge 22nm CPUs early next year. Looks like 32nm architecture CPUs aren't going to have much time as the dominant CPU.

The HD 6850 is okay but I've found some decent HD 6870s for only AU$30 more than the 6850.

Of course, if I had the momey, I'd buy a HD 6990 wait for the GTX 590 to hit Australia and then run both of them combined in Hydra X mode... of course, that would be near AU$2k in GPUs alone and my current rig cost less than AU$1k... oh and I'd need to buy a new PSU... Grrrr... thank fuck I'm broke as.

Superb video, and I agree!
Bob was simply wrong, and so are any "experts" who claim that mobile devices will ever replace consoles or PCs. They are simply too slow, or too bulky, and have horrible input options. Then again, the PC market will never be like it was in the early 2000s, where it reigned supreme. We have to make sacrifices nowadays. The consoles are holding games back, technology wise, so I doubt any of us will get to make full use of our tiny supercomputers for anything other than Crysis. But then again, we have an amazing indie market. Just look at Minecraft! Do you guys recall how many threads there were over Christmas regarding the Steam specials? What about wonderful exclusives like STALKER or Warcraft (the RTS)? Perhaps as cloud computing becomes more widespread, traditional gaming rigs will fade, but that's a long time off. And even if that were to happen, we still have things like gog.com and Steam. The PC market is changing, but not for the worse...

Thanks man, but in my honest opinion arguing one platform versus another is futile. I play some games on console and others on PC. It all comes down to preference. I'm mostly trying to dispel some of the myths surrounding PC gaming, and better educate people about it. Hopefully some people will consider giving it a try.

Doesn't really alternate now as the companies don't really alternate their release of new series of chipsets and ATI/AMD take their sweet fucking time in putting their mid-range chipsets out whereas nVidia seem to drop the *800/*80 high end on launch, then the *600/*60 midrange soon after.

I think Steam and Indie dev success on the PC is what has renewed interest in the platform from the bigger guys. This year everyone's putting special care into making their PC version properly formatted and not console ports. Look at BF3, they flat out said "the PC version will be the best version".

I'm glad you want to make people see past all the bull crap they think is true. Keep fighting the good fight!
