PC Players Not Getting New BioShock 2 DLC

The wait for the Protector's Trials and Minerva's Den DLC on the PC is technically over, as 2K has announced it won't be coming out at all.

It's not a great day to be a PC gamer and a BioShock 2 [http://www.amazon.com/Bioshock-2-Pc/dp/B0016BVYAM/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1286642456&sr=1-1 ] fan, as you're going to miss out on some of the extra content that your console cousins are enjoying. In a post [http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88830&page=4] on the official 2K Games forums, 2K's senior interactive marketing manager Elizabeth Tobey announced that 2K would not be bringing any single-player DLC to the platform.

Tobey apologized for the disappointment that the news would undoubtedly cause, and blamed the decision on "technical and timing issues." She also revealed that a patch to fix problems with the game would not be coming to the PC, despite it being promised months before. Tobey added that if the situation changed, she would let the community know, but that at the moment the decisions should be considered final.

The reaction to the announcement has been understandably visceral, with many members of the 2K community feeling that they have had their goodwill taken advantage of. With no DLC coming or patches coming, it's not hard to see why they might feel that way.

That company is losing control; and this is coming from a person who still thoroughly enjoyed Mafia 2 despite their rather questionable handling of it.

Anyway, I feel sorry for Elizabeth Tobey - her job seems to be damage control for all their fuck ups.

Not releasing DLC: bit of a dick move, but liveable.

Not releasing a patch: What the fucking fuck?

What?

I should just stop trusting multi-platform games on PC. Seriously, it's like developers think the PC is cursed or something. Maybe I'm just carrying some spite because I just finished the PC version of Saints Row 2 (freaking horrible port, no support at all), but it seems so disrespectful towards their supporters to cut them out with no good reason.

Well, 2k Czech(Formally Illusion Softworks before Take Two acquired it) did Mafia II. It's basically a different developer.

I'm talking about the publisher's handling of their projects.

Glad I didn't waste any money on that. No patch is a real crappy move on their part. Considering the overall input on Bioshock 2 I have been hearing though, not that many people are being affected by it.

Funny how this works in the complete opposite way for Valve, in that their console players get the shaft whilst PC gamers bask in free DLC and continuous support.

Blame Microsoft about that. Valve doesn't like to make its players pay for extra content, but Microsoft FORCES developers to make DLC cost so they get a little lot of money in their pockets.

Doesn't surprise me.

2K seems to hate PC players for some reason.
I think is due to piracy and the fact that the PC sales have been terrible.
And both of those could be caused by 2K repeatedly screwing over PC gamers.

Its a vicious circle that neither side seems to want to fix.

And not patching the game or releasing DLC is sure to increase those sales! Thumbs up!

Not even the patches! Really?!?! How does that work? It's their fault if they port the game from consoles to PC even though they are genetically made on computers!!

My thoughts exactly.

Message To My PC Gaming Compatriots: Stop buying crappy ports of big console releases. They're crappy and the support always sucks.

What exactly could we do to fix it? Buy their terrible games and put up with a lack of support until they decide we're worth it?

How CAN we fix it from our side?

Buy badly ported shovelware? That just invites them to put out more same quality crap.

Come to think of it, i don't think that this news warrants the hate. We all knew about 2K's thickheadedness long ago.

Buy not buying or pirating the stuff.

Then logic would dictate that since no one is even bothering to pirate their shit, they make shitty stuff for the PC, and will start treating it better.

Of course this plan requires the people in charge to use logic, which I really doubt will happen.
