Find a free mmorpg, besides Runescape of course.

Also, there's thousands of free RPG games online thanks to programs like RPG Maker.

KOTOR (Knights of the old republic) is pretty fun. And I've got both PC versions (1 and 2).

Planescape Torment or Soulbringer come to mind.

Wizardry 8, as well, if you ever relax the "turn-based" prohibition (it's got continuous battle, but that's basically slightly faster turns with actions you can change on the fly).

I have the whole Baldurs Gate collection sat downstairs which I'm thinking about playing but Turn Based isn't what I'm really wanting.
Baldur's Gate is not turn based.
Actually the combat system is. D&D had rounds, and so does BG. spells are casted in 1-7 rounds (it reads in their description), and you can read attacks per round. The rounds just happen all the time.

Which is why I followed that statement up with 'Technically it is', because it's all done in the background. If you have 'auto pause' off, the whole game seems to just play out in real time. I fully understand how the combat system works, but I would not call BG turn based in the traditional sense.

I'm also going to recommend Baldurs Gate, and if/when you do play it, DO install the Easy Tutu- mod thingamajagger [http://www.usoutpost31.com/easytutu/]. If for nothing else, then for the sake that in the BG2 engine the characters aren't "immovable" objects to other characters trying to pass. I pulled my hair out in some of the kobold caverns etc. trying to navigate with the heroes, when the way was constantly blocked by someone else, who I had to move 2 cm to the side. In BG2 the characters can be 'pushed' aside a little.

Yeah, your follow-up just sounded a little like you thought it would be a "flowing" game, but even that wouldn't be a huge mistake.

Just installed that and currently running around BG1. I never played the first just the second one when I bought them all at once, so this should be alright.

I'm looking for a PC RPG to keep me off MMOs, but don't really know anything but the big titles.
Mass Effect?
That has just come out on Steam aswell... pretty sure that's going to be bought if I get bored of Baldurs. (Really don't know how I overlooked that)

I know exactly what Baldur's Gate is like. I've played through the saga more times then I can count.
And I would absolutely consider it a 'flowing' game. Is it a 'Diablo' clone? Absolutely not. But it does indeed flow.
