It's hypocritical, yes.

The reason for the broader acceptance of boy/woman and abhorrence of girl/man is that an assumption is made. That assumption? The male is in charge of the situation.

If a 13 year boy willing has sexual relations with a very attractive 26 year old teacher most of us would find that ok saying stuff like "that lucky bastard" and would opt for no real punishment on the women behalf.
Well, here's your problem right there: false premise.

In fact, it was pretty big news not too long ago when a 32-year-old woman picked up a relationship with a 16-year-old-boy [http://www.xboxist.com/xbox-360/news/32-year-old-woman-pleads-guilty-to-xbox-live-video-sex-010621.php].

She was tried and convicted with 10 years of prison and is now a registered sex offender.

If that was what happened with a 16-year-old, don't think they'd go any easier on adult women going after on 13-year-old.
Not entirely false. Read the articile in this thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.102954-Life-imitating-South-Park-rolls-eyes]. The boys were arrested while the girls where sent for councelling. The idea that sex is something which makes males predators and girls need to be protected from is pretty entrenched in the political systems of many countries.

Even though they are technically the same in the eyes of the law. Most people would probably dismiss if the male was younger because teenage boys are alot more willing and eager for sex then most teenage girls, at least to the point of seeing it as a more casual and fun thing to do rather then a special life altering moment. In the case of the female being younger it seems more like an older person capitalizing on the naive and suseptible young girl, as opposed to merely fufilling the fantasy of a hormone induced young lad.

Not gonna lie, if i was a young teenager and a older and attractive woman tried to seduce me, I would have been all over it.

I think you missed knight's point.

Ummm I'm pretty sure that I would be screaming "YOU SICK FUCK" if it was the little boy or the little girl... So theres not really a double standard, and I have never heard of anyone say that before. I guess it would be worse for a girl because she could get pregnant.

Something I noticed is that you chose the age of 14 years old for the minor. While that basically fits pedophilia, I think there'd be a difference in the first situation if the minor were an actual child of something like 6 years instead of a teenager. But that's, of course, besides the point.
Well i did have the age younger but people complained.......
Really? I mean, it's not like you were encouraging it or anything. People DO KNOW what pedophilia is, right? "Pedo" is the greek root for "child." Silly people.

Well, double standards for genders have kinda existed since the beginning of society... Sorry to break the news to ya, man.

Sure, it's wrong though, in both cases.

honestly i think there isnt because while boys cant be hurt from the physical they can be hurt emotionally. someone at 12 13 14 etc are not emotionally stable and if anyone remembers being in love at that age, when it ended it really REALLY hurt and you thought you would not rebound. if its like 17 and up i can see one geing with someone older then them

Men have a Average Healthy Once a day passion for sex, from the time they are around 13 til 30. (After that its usually just habit & lifestyle)

Thats only 17 years of desire.. And Society says its wrong for them to engage in sex for the first 5 years of this? almost a Third???

Womens passion for sex doesn't START until she is 33, before this its all emotional desire and feelings (for the majority) They peak for a few final years in an attempt to get once last pregnancy, before menopause.

Hence Cougartown etc..

Most guys at 13 would LOVE to get laid, and fathers would cheer their sons on..

Most girls at 13 don't even THINK about having sex (or society perceives this to be true), and their parents would be mortified if anything was happening..

Given the situation, of course a double standard is going to happen.
Are you sure about this? Or are you saying this is what people believe? I don't know about it just being feelings/emotional desire for women. I know that's always been a component of female, um, "release," but I think there's some desire for sex in there too. It's just it seems like women can turn it off/on or have more control over their desires than men.

Like the last guy said, I'd really love to see statistics or research on that point. Sure, men tend to be attracted sexually to women for surface reasons (SOME men), but I think there are women younger than 33 who feel sexual desire for men on the basis of looks, too. Maybe it's a matter of degree, so we assume it isn't there.

A long time ago my mom said something like, "Men look at a pretty girl and desire her, women look at a good-looking man and appreciate his looks." Not sure if she can really speak for all women there, though. And this was a few years ago.
Google Progesterone levels in men and women, and you'll get a few hundred pages of medical journals (amongst the other crap) most of which are a good read, if your a med student, mildly interesting to average intelligent people. I read alot of interesting things on how testosterone, Progesterone and Estrogen levels affect our moods, sexuality (read: untested, unquantified by directional theory that being gay is a chemical reaction), behaviour, desires and even love.

If I was anywhere near my parents place I'd grab titles of papers that have the direct evidence, Look for a book called 'feminization of the species' which used alot of the same materials for references.

Isn't the feminization due to increased female hormones in the water due to contraceptive pills and fatter men who tend to store more of these hormones (FYI fatter men last longer during sex)
