What are some boss battles in games, that were actually harder than the final boss itself?

I found Puppet Ganon in TLOZ: The Wind Waker, far harder than Ganon himself.

The Spire Shard in Fable 2 was actually a challenge, as opposed to Lord Lucian. Although it's debatable as to whether Lucian counted as an actual boss battle.

Also, the final boss of Human Revolution is ridiculously easy to defeat if you have a Laser Rifle, far easier than the battles in the FEMA facility or at Picus HQ.

***BIG FAT SPOILER ALERT***

Every boss in Demon's Souls save for the last one, King Allant, who's just a pitiful lump of black sludge that barely moves and can only hurt you if you get very close to it.

I second this . I played Human Revolution on hard mode on my first playthrough, and it was the easiest boss i had to face , i didn't even have the laser rifle , i just used the heavy rifle . Quite dissapointing .

I can't really thing of any others right now, but i know i have thought this quite a few too many times during my years of gaming.

I'll point to Final Fantasy X. Braska's Final Aeon. Though to be fair, any of the bosses is more difficult than Yu fucking Yevon, a boss you could kill with a rolled up magazine or a can of bug spray.

Though this is only if you personally count Yu Yevon as a boss, which a lot of people don't.

The Van Hellsing movie tie in. The second last boss was hell.

I could not fucking do it. I spent something like 3 months where I'd put it in, play for a couple of hours losing every time, get angry then play something else.
I left the game for about a year and came back and finished the whole game in about 30 mins.

To be fair, that one is more of a story element than a final boss. I'd have said the Old King Allant in 1-4 is more of a true final boss.

But, man, Old King Dorant was a fucking *****!! The one with the Ancient armor and the huge 1 hit kill 2 hander... ugh!

In Dark Souls, so far Ceaseless Discharge has been the hardest for me.

Lots.
Final Fantasy XIII. Orphan form one and the dude before him were harder then Orpan form 2.

Prototype. Elizabeth Green was much fucking harder then the Supreme Hunter final boss. (I believe he was supposed to be called the Supreme Hybrid since you already killed a Supreme Hunter. Plus the achievement for killing him said Supreme Hybrid)

I don't think you can find a more pathetic example of a final boss in any game.
That battle was supposed to be more emotional then challenging.

I would also like to bring up Superbosses.
The WEAPONS in FFVII
Yaizmat, Zodiark, Hell wyrm were all harder then the Undying in FFXII
Mobius 1 in Ace Combat Zero

They're both complete pains in the ass, but I think Sakuya's stop-time-move-knife trick is a lot more annoying than Remilia's longer health bar. Reason I never beat Embodiment of Scarlet Devil: I had one credit left for Remilia because Sakuya ate them all first.

Mass Effect 1. fight with saren was really hard fight with super saren was easy
Don't forget Benezia. Bloody Singularity is such a kick in the balls.

OT: Borderlands: Secret Armory of General Knoxx's Crawmerax was obviously harder than Knoxx himself. Strange how a boss in a side mission was labeled "impossible" to defeat instead of the boss at the end of the entire DLC.

Does this one count? The Harvester from Dragon Age: Origins, which is a boss in a DLC is harder than The Archdemon who was the final boss in the main game.

Not really a boss, but named Dragon Priests in Skyrim nearly killed me more times than Alduin.

Oh and the 3rd boss battle is so much worse if you made a certain bad decision earlier in the game. First time I made the decision even though I *knew* just how incredibly suspicious it was. I just didn't realize how annoying it would be later.
Oh, yes. That. I made the same mistake on my first playthrough, too. Fortunately, I had the Grenade Launcher from the Explosive Edition, so I just nailed Namir to the wall with about 5 grenades. Job done.

Second time through,
I didn't take the biochip upgrade, and got to laugh my ass off at Zhao making her smug little speech, then frantically clicking the remote control and it doing nothing. Jensen then just laughs and says "Women always underestimate men." The perfect 'Oh snap, son!' moment.
