Well, some of us are out there fighting the good fight for clean, immaculate discs. Getting the varied reactions I have when bringing in my discs for trade or sale is worth it alone. One person asked me if I even bothered to actually play or watch anything, or if I just liked taking the wrappers off.

So some of those discs actually are used. I always figured they were either watched/played/listened to once and traded in, or they had been resurfaced. I take pretty good care of my discs, but they always wind up with at least some mild surface scratches from moving them between the cases and the disc trays; too much hard plastic, too much moving around. I've seen some truly pristine used discs, and it's always confused me for that reason.

The only thing that comes to mind about disc maintenance are the occasional case that holds the disc with a death grip, causing you to pry the disc out carefully (or as carefully as you can "pry" something). My Mass Effect 3 collector's edition case is like that. It just doesn't want to let those discs go.

I take really good care of my media discs. I prefer the Optical format better then Digital Download (say Itunes) for media. BTW, I really have a big collection of CDs, DVDs, and DS Games for almost 20yrs. Before Disc there was cassette tapes and VHS Tapes back in the day of good ol' 1980s-1999. Then 2000 is the launch of Discs format wars. So yeah, even LaserDisk I never owned, but was harder to handle it looks, because it was twice as big as a DVD and the RECORDS back before CDs where about same size as LaserDisks for music. So yeah, people took care of them. I keep all of my cases, and artwork, etc. 80% of my movies and music I own is not available or OUT OF PRINT online.. I take care of Blu-Ray Discs the same way as any other formatted Disc title! So there ya go!

When I handle discs I use my pointer for the middle and the thumb for the outer part of the disk. Been doing for yrs. To clean them one of my tips which works is BABY WIPES... Been using them for a long time and works. I just wipe the discs with baby wipes then wash with water in the sink and dry them off. So I do keep them clean. Better then the toothpaste trick many people post rummors about... I also store them in my bookshelf...same goes for my Video Games. I store all of my Nintendo DS games in their cases after play.
