Hayao Miyazaki.

I don't know him personally ofcourse, but how could anyone hate a guy that makes this many splendorous movies?

Because his films are meaningless fluffy. His remake of Howl's Moving Castle is horrible. In most of his stories the characters have no true motives, and hence in the end they all get along. There is NEVER any true characterisation in his films. And what is worse, he still tries to put his silly anti-war or environmental messages that have no weight (to the real world or to the core story he shoved them into) in where-ever he can! Ha! That is just as much depth as you will get out of Miyazaki!

TBH People like him are the bane of society, they make our kids dumbed down idiots.

And yes, I did used to like him, before I realised he was a hack that is also a major influence behind the fluffy that comes out for kids now days (see Toy Story). These styles of story purposely 'play it safe' for, ironically, conservative moms who will see their children never learning the important lessons one would have learned from older fairytales... Or even older Disney for that matter. No, instead they will get stories that show us nothing about people or life.

OH! But his movies don't hurt anyone! How could anyone hate him?!

Someone has a rather large pole stuck up their arse.

Why do his stories have to have a hidden deeper meaning? They're well done pieces of animation and are entertaining, which is the whole purpose of film making in the first place.

Oh and Dr Ashens - He's got a certain Charlie Brooker/Yahtzee style to his reviews, of which almost all are bought from nasty cheap tat stores.

Of course, being on youtube, you can guarantee someone will have put 'you suck' on the first page of comments, but that can safely be ignored as background noise, as it's usually the first salvo in a UK/US flamewar entirely irrelevant to the video above.

Still here's him reviewing a dollar store 'PopStation One'

Well known and not so hated.
LOL at the last one.
As for Gabe Newell, I hate valve but he's alright as a person. Is that middle one Conan O'Brian?

My choice (aside from the Old Spice Guy because he is the personification of the word AWESOME) would have to be Darth Vader. Best villian ever.

One Name, everybody can/will agree on:

Bill. Murray. Who wouldn't want to hang out with that guy?

And someone I hate, well let's see... Gary Busey? I dislike his face, dunno about the guy himself.

Same with Buscemi btw. Looks like a fish with down syndrome (Not that there's anything wrong with one chromosome too much. Except for that medical-condition-thing that it is.)

There are some people everybody hates and there are some people that are liked by a loud majority but hated by others (Justin Bieber comes to mind).

There are rarely people who are liked by the vast majority of people, two people who come to mind are:

Stephen Fry

The man is quintessentially British, a National treasure. I've never heard of anybody disliking the man. Which is rather ironic because he doesn't see himself as any of these things. Which makes us like him more.

Then there's this guy:

I know it's more of an internet thing, but the Old Spice Guy is brilliant, I'm pretty sure nobody is tired of this charismatic stallion. Also, he should totally play the Black Panther.

So, fellow escapists, is there anybody you think is pretty much liked by everybody? (Who knows about them of course).

This thread is now diamonds!
neil patrick harris.

homophobics want to sleep with him.

(theres also a rumor that he's too manly to be with anyone other than another man)

As for Hulk Hogan, I know people who hate him for Beating Andre the giant (which is proof enough that wrestling like that is fake and fixed), and more who hate him cause of his more recent affairs. And that TV show he did.
Yeah, Hogan has a consistent problem with both BS'ing people and acting like a total Diva.
In 2010, TNA Wrestling paid what was said to be over 1 Million Dollars to bring him on to raise casual non-fan awareness to their program on Spike TV. He proceeds to never mention them during any of the interviews he does to promote his BS autobiography, and then bring in all of his cronies and best friends forever (none of whom are any bit talented). This, among other things, caused their ratings to drop by .5 points in only a few weeks.
He's a backstage politician, an avid steroid user, has outright refused to help anyone's career but his own, uses his stardom to justify his actions in the wrestling business, and will jeopardize entire companies in order to get rich. He's probably the biggest reason WCW went the way of the dodo.
I suppose the worst thing Hogan did is confuse the public.
Whenever Joe Six-Pack thinks about pro wrestling he thinks about Hogan, and as a longtime wrestling fan I can't think of anything worse for the business. Hogan's matches were lazy, slow, poorly coordinated, and way too fake looking. Nobody respects wrestling, because they think it's all that 80's WWF BS. I have about a million hours of counter examples to that, but because of Hogan I can't get the time of day for it.
Damn Fair Weather Casuals

JESUS, I hate Chuck Norris! I've never really understood his popularity, to be honest. One of those things that seemed to come out of nowhere, for no apparent reason.

Plus the guys mentioned above.
Agree with those 3. Most everyone knows who they are (Or would know them if they saw their faces or heard their voices).

I would agree with Stephen Fry if not for the fact that we Americans are barely (if ever) subject to seeing him.

I barely knew who he was till I accidentally stumbled onto some youtube postings of QI episodes.

Pauley Perrette from NCIS has a really high Q score, which means most people who know who she is like her and very few people hate her. Apparently she has the highest for any actress.
And she's lush.
