I'd have to agree with a vast number here, but I'll put gold stars next to
Stephen Fry
Hugh Laurie
Tom Baker
Brian Blessed
Bruce Campbell
Michael Palin (tbh, all the Pythons)
Terry Pratchett
and I'll put forward
Douglas Adams
Both of the two Ronnies
Dara O Briain (most of the Mock the Week lot have some haters, but Dara seems to be Teflon)
Mike Patton - of Faith No More and others, and voice of a few games incl Portal (and my avatar)
Nicholas Parsons - I wouldn't say many people are a huge fan, but he's effortlessly charming and a true gentleman of another era.
David Mitchell - For somehow being middle class and not hated, purely thru his wit
Charlie Brooker - for hating everything so much and so well, that any hate thrown back at him gets deflected.
Robert Llewellyn - Kryten from Red Dwarf and well known for just being, well, nice. Try 'Carpool' on iTunes, it's him just talking to midly famous or interesting people, while he gives them a lift somewhere.
Barry Cryer - He's about 75 and been in the comedy world for about 60 of them, yet he's never held himself back, and is still highly respected and loved by the current crop, and still does topical gags, never deciding that his time has passed.
I was thinking of people like Bill Hicks, but then remembered he was hated by most of his own country for being anti war and anti religion, and only really found a good audience when he came to the UK.
