I've never really met anyone who hated Jon Stewart. Disagreed with his political stances, maybe, but he make it clear enough that he's a comedian first and foremost that no one really holds it against him.

Also, Michael Jordan. Plenty of people who are DISAPPOINTED in him, or were mad when he left the Bulls/stopped playing basketball, but no one who actually hates the guy.

OT: Sir David Attenborough

I can't think of anyone else who has done more to bring the beauty of the natural world into our everyday lives, and his passion and enthusiasm for his work shines through and makes him a very personable chap.
Hate to tell you this but because he has recieved death threats because he is an atheist. Hard to believe I know, but Christian extremists (Yes, thats right extremists, not normal christians who are ok) send him death threats. Its a shame because he is has done nothing wrong
I remember this rather vividly. Attenborough's excuse for being an atheist was something along these lines:

"It's hard to believe in god when there's a species of maggot that eats a child's eyes from the inside out."

Paraphrased, but that's the general idea.

The one and only Liam Neeson. I seriously don't know anyone who doesn't like him.
I would also agree with Morgan Freeman.

Huge lorry.
Did you mean to say "Hugh Laury?" Or was "Huge Lorry" a joke of sorts?
Kinda, I accidentally typed "Huge Lorry" into Google images when I was looking for a picture. I didn't mean to say "Hugh Laury" either, 'cos it's "Hugh Laurie". :p

This and staring at that picture of Old Spice made me feel more manly and intelligent.

Morgan Freeman. You just don't hate him. Ever.

I'm not really a big Stephen Fry fan, personally.

OT: Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert for entertainers

Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Mother Theresa, Gandhi, Newton and Albert Einstein for historical figures.

Whoever does the gravelly voice-overs for action movies, whenever you hear that voice you know some epic shit is going down.

Also

And I'm not just saying that because I've had a massive crush on her since before I can remember. Even though I do.

Edit: changed "man-crush" to just "crush" because I was referring to "man-crush" as apposed to "boy-crush", since I AM A MAN (thank you, Linkara) and not a boy. I didn't realize it actually meant that I had a crush on a man even though I'm not gay as Urban Dictionary defined it.

Thanks go to bahumat42 for correcting me on that so I could make that change. You deserve a cookie.

Holy shit, I may be the first person to mention:

<quote=Wikipedia article for Freddie Mercury>By 1985, he began another long-term relationship with a hairdresser named Jim Hutton. Hutton, who himself was tested HIV-positive in 1990, lived with Mercury for the last six years of his life, nursed him during his illness and was present at his bedside when he died. Hutton claimed that Mercury died wearing a wedding band that Hutton had given him. Hutton died from cancer on 1 January 2010.

The bolded are a few choice reasons I can think of as to why some people dont like him.

Perhaps, but even most homophobic people accept him as TOTALLY FUCKING AWESOME. He's at least as valid as most other people on the list. I can't stand Nathan Fillion or Stephen Fry, for example.

Michael Jackson.

The fact that 99% of the world suddenly found it necessary too overly show their love for him says enough. :)

haha. you were joking yes? PLEASE tell me you were joking!!!! :O

Erm ill go ahead and say allyson hannigan? dont think anyone dislikes her :S
You don't agree with Eric Idle or Michael Jackson? Ricky Gervais does have mixed reception, I am aware of that, And Hogan is so bad he's awesome!
It's probably safe to say there are a fair few people who disliked Michael Jackson in particular. Alot like his music but there are people who dislike him for other reasons.

Ricky Gervais I think is awesome, not too keen on Hogan tho =/

On the note of allyson hannigan, most of the How i met your mother cast are probably all quite liked.

There are some people everybody hates and there are some people that are liked by a loud majority but hated by others (Justin Bieber comes to mind).

There are rarely people who are liked by the vast majority of people, two people who come to mind are:

Stephen Fry

The man is quintessentially British, a National treasure. I've never heard of anybody disliking the man. Which is rather ironic because he doesn't see himself as any of these things. Which makes us like him more.

Then there's this guy:

I know it's more of an internet thing, but the Old Spice Guy is brilliant, I'm pretty sure nobody is tired of this charismatic stallion. Also, he should totally play the Black Panther.

So, fellow escapists, is there anybody you think is pretty much liked by everybody? (Who knows about them of course).

This thread is now diamonds!

Johnny Depp.

He's made some of the worst films to ever grace our screens, and he's almost never seen doing interviews - but I've yet to meet anyone who dislikes him.

David Atinburgh? (bad spelling but the guy who does all the nature programs)
SIR David and SIR Richard Attenborough.

Proud Leicesterites, both of them.

Funnily though, I know quite a few people who loathe Mr. Fry.

But there's at least two other "So cool they've gone back into uncool and then back-flipped into cool again".
