People who type "cumming" in texts and over IM, and other such things

Forgive me if this comes across as a rant, but I consider it a somewhat discussion-worthy topic.

So, I text and IM, much like a large proportion of today's youth, and one thing that I've noticed, well not so much noticed as become more annoyed at, is that quite a lot of people go out of their way to intentionally spell words wrong. I draw your attention to the example provided in the thread title: typing "cumming" rather than "coming" in texts and IM.

I do not see a valid reason why people would choose to use this spelling rather than the proper spelling. The word has more letters than the proper spelling, and, well you know... some can see it as a naughty word. Now my point here is that a lot of people, regardless of their level of intelligence, will intentionally type words wrong, and I thought we should have a discussion as to why. Is the use of proper spelling and grammar so "uncool"?

Maybe for some of the girls they think they're being cutesy... the problem with that is that simple example you just used. You can't really be cutesy with that.

For me though, I don't have a phone and I don't text people so I've no real experience with this. I try to type all my words out nice and clearly, but quickly so there may be a few typos in there somewhere. Meh, "my generation sucks" and all, la-dee-daa-doo.

In my friend's case, it is because they are immature.
Probably like quite a few others.
Intentionally spelling things wrong does not make them big or clever, it just makes them look like idiots, which is how they act.

I spell "the" as "teh" though... just for S&G's.

I can sort of understand 'cumming' being used. Kids these days have very dirty minds, sick bastards.

I really hate it when they spell it like that instead the proper way.

I do it with some words basically for fun. My most common ones are:

Teh
Muther
Meh

I don't have a moral, political or social reason for doing them, I just enjoy it.

Well, all of my friends know I will hit them if they intentionally misspell.
So they've stopped doing that while in contact with me.
Sadly, I cannot hit everyone who does this.
Which is why I think it continues.
That and a willful ignorance.
Dammit, I want to learn how to teleport.

i guess i never bother typing anything correct, i leave out words and letters.
but it's always readible.

but when people rather have me spell it correct, i always do.

I used to intentionally mistype/pervert words... back in grade 4. They're just doing it because they're think they're comical geniuses. Once they're out of high school, they might still shorthand because of the nature of SMS, but they'll cut the stupidity when they realize it doesn't get them anywhere in life.

It's not that it's "uncool", it's more that it becomes as a fad, you know, a trend. People are stupid creatures, usually. Especially young people. Now as offensive as that sounds it's true. Most people don't realize these mistakes and that's why they make them. I mean, I know some of my classmates at school who actually write the way they type in skype ir IM or whatever... They're actually that dumb.

Others do it just, because it's more, appealing I guess to others that appreciate stupidity these days.

Others do it as a joke, because they think it's funny.

Others do it just, because the other guy did it and so on...

Basically, as I said, people are stupid and easily-impressionable creatures. Once they see something new and something fresh they immediately cling to it as it's some form of difference in their lives. As pseudo-intelectual as it sounds, that's the truth. I can't think of any other reasons.

People are just stupid and lazy while thinking "oh i'm naughty" by texting a word representing a sexual innuendo

i get it if it's shortened, as writing an SMS is something you don't want to spend too much time on.
However, using more letters is insane and...frankly, weird.
