Bumping an old thread.

For me it's gotta be The Mars Volta - De-loused in the Comatorium. Everything about that record is absolutely spot on IMO.

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails.
Oh I know. Every time I listen to that album I swear it's been adding layers to itself... chilling really.
This its simply amazing.
Also although it is probably cheating because its a live album but Pulse by Pink Floyd

Black Sails at Midnight - Alestorm
aha, my friend and I would totally agree with this. Pirate metal ftw!!

also, I think my favourite favourite album has to be Showbiz, by Muse. I can listen to that album for days and still love it. "Falling Down" is just beautiful, always makes me tear up.

other than that....Born on a Pirate Ship, by Barenaked Ladies. We listen to this in the camper when we're heading to the motorbikes, it's the perfect mix of chilled and peppy, and has "If I had a $1000000" at the end....perfect ^_^

Thickfreakness by the Black Keys. Recorded in a single 14 hour session in a basement, on 8-track. Sounds Amazing.

BRMC by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club: Bought this vinyl LP on a whim one day after I heard one of their songs on the internet. Brilliant Stuff. One of the best records I own.

Colors - Between the Buried and Me

When a band sounds badass by inserting a COUNTRY breakdown in one of their songs, they are perfect.

I'm listening through Crack the Skye by Mastodon right now, and it is also very good. Prog albums always take a while to grow on me though. I remember hating BTBAM when I first heard them.
This^^^
(and the great misdirect)
Nocturne by The Human Abstract was another amazing one.
