Personal Best Ending to an Anime/Manga

So, as I watch TTGL (FOR THE FIRST TIME NO SPOILERS) I wonder what the best Anime endings to a Saga/the show itself have been. I am brought back to FLCL in this aspect, for my own personal reasons, one, as it was one of my first animes, and two, due to the tearjerker at the end, but I was wondering what insight the Escapist had on Anime Endings??

Sidenote: This should go without saying, but if you TRULY feel the need to bring up the ending, please,PLEASE put it in a spoiler box.

As far as epic stories are concerned, FMA had the best ending to it.

Personally, the best ending I've seen in recent times is from Darker than BLACK (only just watched it a couple months ago).

While a lot of series just DIDN'T FUCKING END PROPERLY.

I dont count is as the official ending but the Tomoyo alternate story was very good and made me care more about Tomoyo in 1 episode and wrapup than the whole rest of the series did for Nagisa

Ah, that depends on which one you watched. If it's the original, then yeah, shit end. But the direct manga adaptation (Brotherhood) was sooooooooooooooo awesome. It is one of the best pieces of story-writing I've seen in anime (though to be fair, I've seen more than I deserve of shit so *heh*)

Also: FLCL = Furi Kuri (depending on source) which doesn't mean a damned thing.

Hmmm... best Anime ending? Probably the ending for Crono Crusade. It provides resolution to almost every issue brought up in the series while simultaneously providing one of the most gut-wrenchingly depressing endings I have ever watched.

Seriously, I thought that my sociopathy had extinguished any sense of human feeling in my cold dead heart, but this ending made me bawl in tears.

Fortunately, it also helped me to extinguish that last element of humanity in my soul and I can now officially say I'm dead to the world.

Personally, I'm just happy when ANY anime ends before it turns into a puddle of plot holes and god-characters. So, Bleach would be a good anime if it was only 5 episodes long. ZING!

There was a mostly terrible, mildly pornographic anime movie two-episode OVA called "Kite"... I hated every main character in it... but let's just say the ending played out exactly the way I wanted it to. It made up for every terrible moment beforehand.

I'm not so much of an anime and manga conisseur as many of the people here, but I really did enjoy Darker than Black (Which I have been Ninja'd on suggesting, methinks) because it both resolves everything I wanted to know, and leaves the ending open enough to keep me interested in the idea of a second/third season. (I know that the second season is already out, but I mean that the end of the first season was like that too)

Definitely give Brotherhood a go (if watching subbed, there's a change in cast, but it's still very good). As far as you are concerned, yeah, wait a bit 'cos it's 52 eps (unless you marathon that in less than a week). But once you get to a certain point (40 eps in or so), you'll be in a constant state of *glance at time* *oh, one more episode* and I ain't kidding!.

I remember that now... yeah, that was tough viewing (after a fashion).

And on that note: Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 (just how many times have I mentioned this series here, huh?!) It's a brilliant ending, and anyone who doesn't cry for the final 10 minutes of it officially has neither heart nor soul.
