Now, we all know how the Escapist forums act in response to the question "Am I the only one that..."

This is going to be kind of like that.

What kind of physical ailments do you, fellow Escapist members, have? You can be as specific or as vague as you wish, and can include any sorts of conditions that you can think of. If you note that someone else has a condition similar to yours, feel free to discuss it, sympathize with them, or discuss any ways to make that condition less annoying. They need not be full medical conditions, and can include things like a constant back ache or knee problems.

To start us off: While I'm physically fit and have very little wrong with me on the surface, there are some huge annoyances that have caused me tons of anxiety over the years. These include MASSIVE sweating far beyond what a normal person ever has to deal with, back acne that is just annoying, and issues stemming from a possible light form of bi-polar disorder on top of my medicated ADHD. The sweating has been treated medically but is still excessive when combined with my sweat-inducing ADHD medication.

To take it further, both of my parents are alcoholics and both sides of my family have a huge history of emotional problems and substance abuse. Oh, and some degenerative illnesses that have killed plenty of people on my mom's side that I may be a carrier of.

And finally, I recently had a hemorrhoidectomy (surgery to fix, well, yeah), which is easily the worst pain that I have ever experienced. The years leading up to it have certainly been hell in that respect.

So tell me, am I the only one here suffering from any of these?

Well if I breathe too heavily my ribs start to hurt and I get a stabbing pain in my back.

And the anxiety attacks. And the daily nosebleeds.

Sure it's nothing to worry about.

Right now my biggest complaint is wisdom teeth. They're impacted but have erupted, and I think my gums have an infection as a result. Trying to track down whether or not I have dental insurance under my mom's plan to get them removed.

I have "bad knees and ankles". I pretty much can't run for more than a few minutes because my ankles and knees hurt like hell if I do.

Edit: Just found out I don't have dental insurance... )':

I have Crohn's Disease and mild asthma.

The former is under control and the latter hasn't been much of an issue in years.

My ankle sometimes hurts real bad and I can't run for too long. Must have something to do with the two times I've broken it and about a million sprains. Surprised I can still walk on the damn thing.

Also got some mild social anxiety but I can control it for the most part.

I get hay fever during the height of summer.

It's not as bad as when I was a kid, but it's still basically a cold that lasts for about 2 months.

I currently cycle 8 miles a day, to and from work. It's only been a few weeks but I feel healthier already.

I have flat feet. I also have a temporomandibular jaw disorder, my jaw clicks hard and aches a little if I open my mouth too wide by yawning or when I'm eating. It gets uncomfortable, some mornings I wake up only to find I can't open my mouth at all as my jaw has gotten stuck. That may not be the right technical term, but it's just how I see it really. I've only just mastered brushing my teeth without the jaw snapping everywhere.

I have had Bells Palsy & it could reoccur at any time, I still have a twitch on the right side of my face. Very mild breathing problem inherited from my family. The worst thing though is the bad teeth, I've taken good care of them my whole life & they are still giving me all kinds of trouble.

My sinuses are screwed up and congested, and I get frequent nosebleeds too.

I'm also highly allergic to most people and social situations. Social phobia is great.

Many things (seems as soon as you're around 30 they start cropping up), but my biggest issue has to be my plantar faciitis. Where your feet hurt. Terribly. It's agony to stand up and walk to the bathroom first thing in the morning, then it gets better. Drive to work, get out of the car, hurts like amotherfucker every step I take, gradually gets better. Feet can cramp/feel sore over the course of the day. I can't let my feet dangle or it hurts like a *****. I have to stetch the muscles for it not to hurt. I also wear big ugly insoles.

Get home, use the treadmill (they don't hurt once I've been active for a while) shower, make dinner, settle in for a bit... then get up after a while and I want to cry because it hurts so much.

Go to bed. Repeat.

Other than that, bad allergies (and current sinus infection), and lactose intolerance.

And I mucked up my knee a couple months ago and it's not really getting better.

I'm pretty sure I have repetitive strain injury in my right shoulder (before anyone says anything I'm left handed and I think its from using a mouse for long periods of time) that I really should see a doctor about.

Social anxiety is something fun that I deal with on a daily basis too. I'm cool with it most of the time but going out on my own is hard at times.

Depression.

Then not.

Then it's back again.

Then I'm OK for a few days!

The downs last weeks, the ups last hours. I'm currently wishing I'd just wrapped the fucking umbilical cord around my own neck whilst still in the womb.

But I wear a good mask in public, people never see the true extent of my problem. Loneliness has, over the past week, actually caused minor pain. You know that dread feeling right down to the pit of your stomach that occurs for a few seconds when bad things happen? It's like that, but lasts for hours.

Happy times eh!

As for the physical...

Hay fever.
Awaiting test results for skin cancer. Beat it once, can't be arsed again.
Dislocated my shoulder some years back, it doesn't like to stay put if I lay on it wrong.

Hmm... I'm pretty sure just scoliosis. And not like the kind that makes me look deformed. Just scoliosis. :3

And I think I have this disorder where I critically misinterpret people's sarcasm when it comes to describing mental disorders and turn it into seeking attention. Is that just me?

I also might have borderline Narcissistic Personality Disorder because other people's problems aren't mine and I lack the empathy to care. 'Cuz I don't.

Last the counselors talked, I had... double depression? I have no idea what that is, but I think it went away 'til I left the military. I dunno. Hopefully ALL this'll go away when I'm done with counseling AGAIN! :D I wanna care. About other people. But's hard. Because I really don't. Care, that is.

I have an unnatural resistance to medication. This tends to be an issue in the case of numbing agents, sleeping agents, and pain relief.

I think I'm slowly working my way to having Anorexia (Or Manorexia, as it were). I don't eat very much anymore, and nothing seems particularly tasty anymore (I have configured that I can lose 5 pounds (My math sucks, so 2.5kg, I think) every two weeks).

I have psychological disorders. When I want to be around people, I want to be alone. When I want to be alone, I want to be around people. Nothing seems exciting, really (It does for about two weeks, then I just feel like it was a waste of time on that 15th day).

I want to be verbally abused (I cannot explain this one at all), I want people to tell me I am worthless, and when people don't, I get sad. When people admit that something I've done either singing or acting wise made them cry, I feel an immense hatred for myself. Whatver that constitutes insofar as psychological disorders go, it's probably that.

I had an ulcer when I was 13, which takes a toll on me and this manorexia issue, because if I go all day without eating, I'll get gut bombs.

That's about it, really. Less physical issues then mental ones.

ah man i hope you get your wisdoms sorted out ok :(
ive never had a problem with my teeth until last year the gum at the back of the left side went all puffed up and pus would come out. it was where my wisdom tooth had tried coming through but got lazy and gave up half way.

soooo....

had to go to hospital where it was extracted.
now when they numbed the area n sliced the gum it was ok but they had to smash the little bugger into pieces and pull the bits out.

no matter how many injections they gave me i could still feel it when they where pulling it out. the worst came later, my face swelled up like a balloon and the dry socket was the worst pain ive ever had. i couldnt chew and lost a stone in a week!

if yours have erupted you should be fine and not have the same experience as me, as mine had to be chiseled from my jaw bone.

You're WORTHLESS! WORTHLESS I TELL YOU.

I bet you'd probably prefer it if a hot girl told you that you were worthless though. That's kind of a commonplace quirk.

I think I have one partial and one full eruption on the bottom ones, the top ones came in fine. I'm mostly worried about the cost. It's probably going to cost at least around a grand to get all of them taken out. ):

I can afford it, thankfully, but it still sucks blowing that kind of money on my teeth. It's a substantial part of my savings.
