People who are melodramatic attention whores. The types who feel the need to tell you just how great or how dark and messed up they are, or the people who attempt to inject drama into things. I dislike it when people take themselves too seriously or look down at you for not taking yourself seriously. I also dislike it when people can't be serious when the situation calls for it. I dislike it when people are just difficult. The type of person who you can't win with no matter what you say. I dislike it when people are condescending and idiotic. I can't honestly think of anyone I know who is condescending and not stupid in some way, as often times they're condescending about something they also happen to be wrong about. It's particularly frustrating because it would be so gratifying to just unload on people who do that, but I usually opt for the more civil option for the sake of keeping the peace. I dislike it when people lack humility. I dislike it when people think too highly of themselves. Finally I dislike it when people who aren't even willing to put an effort in to get along with people or be considerate of others. Despite all of that, I get along with most people, as usually their entire personality is defined by a single trait or behavior that bothers me (USUALLY).

People with no sense of humour.

90% of what I say is an attempt at humour, so I find it nearly impossible to communicate with those types :D
I understand completely. People with no sense of humour are the worst, because by default they take everything far too seriously. There are lots of types of humourless people; people who can never be the butt of a joke, people who can never just appreciate a good pun (or a bad one, for that matter), people who just don't understand jokes, et cetera. Like you said, it is just not possible to properly communicate with people when everything you say is laced with humour that they cannot pick up on. You never realize that humour is a language until you meet someone who doesn't speak it.

Similarly, people who don't have a sense of irony.

Overconfident, know-it-all, stubborn characters unwilling/unable to perceive the bigger picture. I'm also biased towards people lacking finesse and creativity aka "hurrr durrr, no ur stoopid"

My favourite poem (apart from Lewis Carroll's "The Jabberwocky") is "Don't Grin Or You'll Have To Bear It" by Ogden Nash:

It is better in the long run to possess an abcess or a tumor
Than to possess a sense of humor
People who have senses of humor have a very good time
But they never accomplish anything of note, either despicable or sublime
Because how can anyone accomplish anything immortal
When they realize they look pretty funny doing it and have to stop to chortle

-----------------------------------------

I've a colleague at work who thinks she's the bee's knees and the best leader/manager since sliced bread. She speaks SO slowly in an annoyingly nasal voice, and is very seriouscat. My idea of hell is being in a room with her forever.

On another note, I get on well with most people. I get the impression many answering on this thread have bugbears common to most - like FalloutJack said: stupid people. But what is stupid to one person is quite pleasant to another. You can be stupid but also a laid-back, interesting person; similarly you can be the world's smartest fella/sheila and still be a cock. So I guess in this instance "stupid" means a trait that makes you socially undesireable to any given person - which varies!

The Hyper competitive.

I'm all for self improvement and challenging yourself to improve and be a "better you."
That's a noble goal.

Wanting to be better than you currently are is great, needing to be better than everyone else around you kinda makes you look like a dick head.

The willfully ignorant. I obviously don't expect everyone to take an active interest in every topic...that would be silly.

I just mean people who are proud to be dumb as fuck or refuse to accept provable facts that disagree with their preconceptions.

I don't like hanging out with people who don't think for themselves. It's not uncommon, and I wouldn't say I hate them or don't get along with them. I just don't like hanging out with them much.

Big-headed people
It's not my fault that my head is so large! I was born with a massive noggin, and the years have not been kind. How can you hate someone over something that is so obviously outside of their control? I think that's racist, like the Nazis. They persecuted people like me. Jews that is. By their standards I am one (I think).

The rest of your comment clearly does not apply to me, so I'm going to get on topic. I don't like confrontational people. I just don't get along with them. I value them as individuals and understand how important it is to be confrontational from time to time, but I cannot be friends with such people.

HOW DARE YOU DISS CONFRONTATIONAL PEOPLE?

I'm gonna come round your house and leave a garden rake on your lawn. That's right. You'll step on it and it'll smack you in your ginormous head and I'll laugh. That's how damn confrontational I am.

You know I'm sensitive about my big head, and also that it is physically quite sensitive! How could you do something so hurtful!?! I thought we were friends man! I even gave you the friendship bracelet that was actually some kind of anniversary bracelet! Don't you remember? It had our names engraved in the charms along with "here's to another wonderful ten years!" You said it was thoughtful! Thoughtful!

Nail on head.

Quite a few people on this site are like that. Someone cracks a joke and they take things so seriously ..... really dislike folks like that.

Flamboyant people irritate me more than others, I guess. Regardless of their actual sexuality they just seem to make me want to calmly tell them to shut up before I rip out their organs.

people who dont get dark humor: im usually a introvert but when i do talk to people and try to tell a joke its normally a bit darker than other peoples sense of humor and they just give me a shocked stare like "wow man, your sick in the head"

really, really stupid people: theres just no point in me trying to have a convo with these people as they are generally more worried about their facebook or i cant have a decent convo with them

The one I hate the most are the people who seem to have that personality type which makes them suck up to people and try to kiss peoples asses to get anywhere in life, cut that shit out its disgusting.

That and passive aggressive people and assholes in general.

Loud, in your face, talkative people. The ones who won't shut up and butt into every single conversation that doesn't involve them.

People who can't take a joke and like to get hysterically offended over everything so they can make the other person feel bad and make themselves feel superior when the latter has to apologise.

Constantly angry and miserable people annoy me too. I have lots of those days too, but I see people who always fucking moan when I see them. There was one customer at my work I see almost daily, and he somehow always finds something to moan about.
Last week I just said, "Well love, if you don't like it here you can always go to Subway next door!" as jokingly as I could. I was being dead serious though, if he apparently hates the service so much he shouldn't come back, no one is forcing him to shop there.

I usually can get along with people if I have to. I've put up with enough stupid people in my life that I had to learn to deal with them and just shut them out. What I dislike though is people who think they know everything. Usually I just let them talk since I figure it makes them feel good to show off or whatever, but it takes a lot of energy to not correct them when they make a mistake.

This will probably get me lynched by the rest of the site, but, the key word there is attempt. I kid of course :)

Zing!

I was expecting responses like these and I have prepared accordingly...
