Internet culture has twisted the once noble figure of the man into a pathetic, whiny, pallid, unhealthy, greasy, unshaven, awkward, irritating freak that constantly runs after the goddess like figure of "The GF" to ABSOLUTELY no avail.

The "Wanker culture" - wherein most males accept and broadcast that they're pathetic for the sake of cheap laughs, display a crippling fear of male (and only male) homosexuals, and "grudgingly" admit that poor quality, uncreative pornography is the only sexual attention they get - is a pox and a plague that only makes men less appealing to me, and does a fairly good job of not only alienating the women they want more than life itself, but promoting sexism AGAINST men.

Basically, it's very hard to see Dohvakin (Lusty sigh) from behind the smokescreen of perverts and porn.

OT: I don't think anything has ever specifically been "ruined" for me... more like, I used to listen to certain songs/like certain movies or w/e thinking their meaning was one thing when in reality it was something dark and sinister... I can't think of a specific example because it was so long ago, hahah.

This is how I see a lot of the stuff coming out of the average internet user. There's also been a number of songs that, when I learned more about the lyrics as I got older, I found myself disliking them. Not so much a fault of the general perversity of the internet, rather than some music artists being rather fucked up.


As per the topic, I don't so much let what people say/do ruin the things I like for me, but it does make me think less of the individual(s) who get their jollies that way.

HOWEVER.. I do think that people who proliferate various notions such as rape/killing of characters in cartoons/games/etc are frequently a disservice to the fanbase because it is, sadly, fans who generally create the images, flash videos, and stories. It's largely why I don't associate with most anime fans. ..Or why I had to really resist beating the shit outta a guy I knew in high school cause I got SO tired of him bringing Tifa artwork/stories to class after the game came out.

You know, I really didn't think that cupcakes was that bad compared to some of the other stuff I've read/seen on the internet. It didn't really ruin my liking of the show either because, despite all of the references to their characters and universe, it was just a bit too distant from the way that the series works to have any lasting impact.
OT, I'd say that the power of rule 34 is a force for evil in many cases. There is porn for just about ever series out there, and the only thing worse than accidentally seeing some and having to wash your eyes out is thinking that somebody actually sat down and drew the damn thing.
Also, most fanfictions are character and continuity ruining messes with Mary Sues abound. Don't get me wrong, good fanfiction exists, but it's mostly just trash.
Edit: just read Sweet Apple Massacre. This one tried so hard to be offensive that it just fell flat. It was like a worse version of the Aristocrats joke.
