The Democratic Republic of the Congo emerges from the cataclysmic-eternal hellhole of a resource hoarding-warlord struggle, rises to cultural dominance, subjects all other nations of the world, and then decides to spontaneously set off every nuke it has in its newly created war machine.

First one meteor crashing into the earth then splits into two, one lands in the United states, the other in Russia now BOTH have a new type of energy resource but will only work if they are together so then a whole war breaks out. However without knowledge there was a third shard that has both properties but is then found out that it creates a new strain of disease and only the first 100 people who originally discovered the meteor survive. Then they must move on and create a new civilization.
this new civilization would be a semi mutated one with super powers due to the surviving of the alien disease. the powers would include Super strength, speed and flight. Also a 1% chance of teleporting.
Which is more of a rebirth but would be AWESOME.
Or zombies that would be cool too.

Nuclear apocalypse because I like to think that all the hours I have put into the Fallout games have prepared me for it.
The Earth is really just an egg and some omnipotent cosmic entity hatches from it.
