I have to agree with sentiment that having something like an m16 or ak to defend yourself is silly, I mean it's like saying I want to butter my bread and you reach for a claymore, yeah you can do it but it's over kill (excuse the pun). It's a good mental image, right?

Of course from my knowledge of school shootings, which is almost none, aren't handguns usually used? The most infamous school shooting, columbine, was done by hand guns (I think).

Then this sandybrook one, wasn't there an Asian guy who went on a little rampage with a hangun as well?

I dont agree with them personally, im just playing devils advocate. I dont see how anything beyond a handgun or a knife for self defence is helpful. Anyway, surely body armour is the best thing you could get for self defence.

I mean dont get me wrong, i would love to own a bazooka but I acknowledge that a world where compulsive manic depressive types like me are allowed to own bazookas is not going to be a very pretty one.

However, a scoped semi automatic rifle is probably going to be the best thing for hunting deer and suchlike.
Its just going to be about achieving a compromise between personal freedoms and the general safety of the populace

That is very very different, in this instance it was an anti soviet action, NO U.S citizens were harmed.
911 was just terrorists killing a load of innocent Americans.

Americans. I was only replying to the idea that these people would never work with us. I tried to make sure to say that it was only a mean to an end for them. They didn't/don't like us and it was only Soviet occupation that caused them to accept our assistance. But to say the outright they would never work with us isn't true(well it is now). At least in the words of Glorious Leader Bush the Taliban were aiding and allowing Al Qaeda to exist in their borders. I also understand that at the time of invasion Afghanistan was basically a country of warlords with their own swaths of land and no Taliban leadership so who fucking knows.

However it is in my opinion highly unlikely your government would want to blow up a huge investment like the two towers, not to mention loads of their own citizens.
