Oh look, it's the StarCraft MMO I never wanted.

(Seriously, look at the cantina again - ring any bells?)

Think that's bad, look at the pledge store, the ships in there, then look at the winner for "The Next Great Starship" on Star Citizen "The Redeemer" then look at the "Cutlass".

Oh, and the 'Alien' ships in the game are almost poly for poly ripoffs of the alien "Vandull" in Star Citizen.

It is amazing, the amount of people who are just not tolerating this again from PGI.

With an even shadier crowdfunding system than they used last time, in their first 12 hours they've only made $3,000. And I'm willing to bet that those are from the employees themselves to "seed the pot" as it were.

With their paid ad on PC Gamer, who's always been cozy to them, they couldn't generate a handful of positive remarks on their website.

Terrible developer is terrible.

These accounts were definitely made just to cry about PGI. In fact, Sandpit linked this thread to reddit.com to try to drum up support. I had to make an account here to dispel some of the lies he's posting.

MWO's Founders program didn't start until June 19th, 2012. Open beta started on October 29th, 2012. That's hardly three years like he claims, in fact it's been approximately 2 years and 2 months since the start of the closed beta. All of the features that were promised in the Founders program(mech piloting, customization, upgrades, c-bills, EXP and skills, see source) were available at the start of open beta. I should know, I started less than a week after it opened.
that's for players buying the first cash pack. people were given beta keys before then and the pitch for the game which had assets built, mechanical functions with cryengine etc happened in late 2011

developement of the game well underway.

please research before white knighting

So, just to add an update, every PGI employee who had a PGI_ tag on reddit has had their accounts shadowbanned today sfor moderating their own subreddit /r/transverse, which is a violation of the reddit ToS

To add insult to injury, their community manager posted this thread

http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/170725-regarding-reddit/

Where he asks his "supporters" to do something, that is also against the reddit CoC called "Brigading"

As you can see by the subsequent 40 pages, the Founders of the game not only do not have sympathy for him, they begin to come out of the woodwork (many of whom haven't logged in or played in over a year) to shame them.

Wondering if all these new accounts here are just made an account to gripe about PGI XD
Legendary founder here. I have played mechwarrior since MW3, then actively participated in VL, MWA and MWL leagues as an RDL member.

What i have to say is that PGI don't deserve a penny made on empty promises ( http://partedveil.com/MWO/ ) they fed to some of the most passionate, friendly and supportive communities that ever existed. MWO has been all downhill from OBT for me, even then people said it wasn't ready for it as core features (missed by this day) were not implemented.

The soul that was captured almost flawlessly in CBT got buried under layers of dodgy game mechanics and unbalanced content.
Quite certainly the only professional, good work that has been done since then is mech design. Not much else.

Here's something back from the good times i hold very dear - an MWL radio showcast of a match. Married, working people woke up in 5am to play with opponents from all around the world for 12th place in a ladder and other people were interested in hosting a radio show for this and other matches that day, month and year. For zero money whatsoever. Same as MekTek that held MW4M evolving long after Microsoft threw it into the bin.

This is what made MW4M, a game with many limitations MWO could easily remedy, great - community. The one there was, the ~vocal minority~ got casted aside. Sadly, there's nothing to band over for new players in what PGI have produced as we continue to see.

So after months of claiming that their production has been slowed by an inability to find staff to work on Mechwarrior: Online, a game which many features remain unimplemented, broken or horribly buggy, they were able to find the 'talent' to begin production on a whole new title...
AHAHAHAHA!!

First off, allow me to say to my great embarrassment that I'm an MWO legendary founder.

With that out of the way, COMBAT in Transverse IS A STRETCH GOAL!? Hahahahaha!!

When a friend of mine told me this last night while we were MWO'ing and sitting together in the Davion Teamspeak, I thought he was making a joke. But I just followed your link and holy f'ing sh'tting f'ck, would you look at that. Combat- in a game that appears to be about fighting in space- is actually a stretch goal...

Do you know what this is? Jealousy of and an attempt to bandwagon with Star Citizen.

The problem is, trying to bandwagon Star Citizen NOW is like looking at a ship that's about to disappear over the horizon and saying "Yeah, I'd quite like to get on that".

PGI please, complete Mechwarrior first. I can't buy MC when I'm wondering how much of my cash is going to be spent on some stillbirth project like Transverse, instead of going back into the product I actually like despite your best attempts to make that impossible.

Well I understand that there is plenty of bad blood with their previous title, but people need to understand these guys are now stuck with a not very popular game no one is happy with and yet expected to keep it going until the end of time... I honestly don't think that is a good idea for anyone involved.

I'm not overly confident they can make something big out of their next attempt either, but I also won't fault them for making it.

They have cut their funding in half - it's now $500k to get the project going, with "alpha state on ship construction, flight, combat, and harvesting". Still, the rest of the stretch goals remains the same (1 mil for flight, 1.5 mil for construction and 2 mil for combat).

The creative director Bryan mentioned that if it doesn't reach the $500k goal they will refund in full. And yet in their ToS, section IX. FUNDRAISING & PLEDGES:

"B. The deposit shall be earned by Piranha Games and become non-refundable to the extent that it is used for the Pledge Item Cost and the Game Cost, with your deposit being applied as follows: first to the Pledge Item Cost, and then to the Game Cost in a percentage equal to the total applied Game Cost in relation to the total deposits of all contributors remaining after the Pledge Item Cost."

PGI has a horrendous track record of giving refunds or making things right when they make a mistake. Even giving away digital goods that cost them nothing is like prying a penny from a misers hand.

Once, they implemented a patch that made the game completely unplayable on my end. And the fix was 2-4 weeks out.
I contacted Customer Support, not to complain, but just ask if there was a way they could pause my premium time that was burning away, since I wasn't able to play.
They pointed me to the ToS/EULA saying that the gaming environment may change, and they they weren't responsible, blah, blah, blah.

So I persisted a bit, then we came to an agreement that if I didn't log into the game until the issue was fixed then to contact them and they would inject my account with some premium time if they saw that I hadn't logged in during that time. Fine, it's not like I could play anyway, perfectly reasonable... well, kinda, but whatever.

During the period I couldn't play, they had a sale on some digital items I was interested in purchasing, so I contacted support asking that if I logged in to buy these items, if it would violate our agreement about the premium time injection?...

THEY ACTUALLY SAID YES, IT WOULD!

They actually told me that by spending money with them, I would be in violation of our agreement for getting the premium time back that I wasn't using because they broke the damn game.

WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?!

so after this statment was released.

https://transversegame.com/community/discussion/151/transmission-from-the-creative-director

a few weeks later PGI's reported to be lying about owning the wing commander liscence.

http://www.gamestar.de/spiele/transverse/news/ea_piranha_games_hat_keine_wing_commander_lizenz,51696,3078453.html

so what do you think? Ea don't know their own properties? PGI desperate for cred and positive exposure say they have iconic IP and are lieing? like they've never done that before /sarc. or have the biggest gaming journalists in germany got the facts wrong from EA? likely?

my verdict: Bryan's marketing BS fails again.

crowdfunding, oh boy

an extremely important aspect of crowdfunding is trust, how can you gather trust when you abandoned your previous game?

I don't see PGI going anywhere successful other than the very dedicated fans of the developer. The same thing will happen with Transverse in 2-3 years.

Was fringe friends with a group that rolled in MWO. They kinda blew up due to internal drama, but lack of updates didn't help with the mood. If they were still together to this day, it would probably have been messy.
