If I find a character attractive it's because I imagine them as they would look/act as a real person, I am not literally attracted to the pixels themselves.
I assume this goes for most people (or I hope rather).
Sure it sucks when you remember it's not real, but it's enjoyable enough when you can forget how dull things really are.
