Okay, I'm putting my hands up.

What was I crucifying you over?

Did I really hurt your feelings in telling you, in ONE sentence, that you didn't know what you were talking about? I didn't think it would lead to this much distress.
How many times do I need to admit that I don't know anything about the console specs of the PS3? What number will satisfy you?

(You didn't hurt my feelings by the way. I wouldn't be responding to this if you did. I'm all for constructive criticism, atleast when it actually IS constructive)

may i ask an honest question, whats the big deal with multi-disked games, oh no every couple hours i got to stand up and stretch my legs, maybe get a snack. it never bothered me and in some cases if it wasn't for disks changes i would of lost track of time for a damage length of it. by the by i think they should make a new colony wars game
For me, there isn't anything wrong with multi disk games. I don't mind getting up to change a disk.

For some developers, they find that having multiple disks means that they have to splurge more money (John Carmack mentioned something bout that a while back) to finish their games.

John Carmack also made a comment in the same breath that even though the single Blu-ray for a game feature was a plus for the PS3, he'd still rather develop for the XBox 360 because the PS3's architecture is a mess to develop for.

Granted, that's a big plus, but like the others, I don't believe it's a defining characteristic for most of us gamers. Developers - yes. Gamers - a small percentage.

EDIT: And I'm glad he brought up the free PSN. The problem is that in less than a year or so, it's not going to be free anymore. Sony can't keep it up forever, because the servers are getting expensive (they lost $68m on that last year alone). My company (a credit card transfer company) is currently planning to take on the payment system for PSN sometime in October.

I feel kinda abused by Sony for it, but it's business. I understand that cost of hosting thousands of users.

Except that's not true:

December's NPD numbers -

Wii--2,150,000
360--1,440,000
PS3--726,000
PS2--410,000

And if you want to include the month of November (Nov + Dec) -

Wii--4,190,000
360--2,280,000
PS3--1,104,000
PS2--616,000

Now, if you want to look at the percentage of sales growth over the entire lifespan of the PS3, the XBox 360 had a 12.1% while the PS3 had a 12.6%. That's a .5% stronger growth than the XBox 360 (mostly during the holidays). If we follow that growth trend (or even increase it to 2% over the XBox's), that means the PS3 will overtake the XBox 360 in sales in ... March of 2012. Which by then, they will already be releasing another XBox and PlayStation console.

I realize we're both PS3 fans, but the difference between you and me is that I'm not listening to or buying Kaz Hirai's crapola and I'm not wanting to change reality. Me = fan, you = fanboy. Now don't take it a step further and move into fantardism, please.
I checked a website and said what I read and I will stand by what I say, PS3 will overtake Xbox 360 and why does everyone say fanboy, I just hate the Xbox 360 coz I DONT WANT A FUCKING CONSOLE THAT WILL BREAK DOWN EASILY!!! U know what I mean??? lol.

I'm sorry, I'm just saying that if you do the math, your original quote is not viable for this year, next year, or the year after. I'm actually making this statement based on numbers and sales projections - not based on how I feel about the PS3.

You didn't exactly give me any evidence to back up what you said or to the contrary of mine, so you sent up a fanboy flag in my mind.

You checked a website? Of course! It's the perfect place to find totally, indisputably, correct information.

'Cause, you know, the 'net is never wrong...

EDIT: For clarity's sake, that's not me being a fanboy. I'm just saying your argument is more flawed than McClaud's. Also, isn't it weird that I have to say I'm not being a fanboy in fear of being called one?

It only breaks down to prevent chipping of the consoles, it is a conspiracy *x-files-music in the background*

But, the information could be correct and I wouldn't be shocked if the PS3 is selling much quicker than the Xbox 360 coz in my opinion, the PS3 is the better console.

The information I gave you is an independent tracker of the sales of many things, not just console games. I took the information for console games from there.

Please don't tell me you believe the information from sites like the Sony Defense Force for truth? Half the time, they can't quote the source or how they came about those numbers. And when even a fan questions the validity of the information, their response is not to clarify any facts or give any sources, but to call the person a XBox fanboy. Even if the person does not OWN an XBox.

That's not facts - that's telling your fans what they want to hear in order to keep them rabid fans.

The PS3 sold even less in the month of January than it did in October of last year. So Sony has to start doing something more progressive and start winning over people on the fence if they are going to accelerate the sales of the PS3 to overtake the XBox 360. Just because it's the better console doesn't mean more people will buy it instead of the XBox 360. If that was how it worked, more people would by PS3's than Wii's. But the Wii continues to outsell both consoles in spades even in 2009.

A good review. It's a bloody shame that a lot of people here feel the need to rip every statement and opinion to shreds for some unknown needed obligation.

I for one have been extremely satisfied with my PS3 purchase. I know not everyone is blessed with full backwards compatibility like I got (80gb in the MGS4 Bundle <3), and I think it's a shame because of how great the PS2 was/still is.

I never saw backwards compatibility as an issue; only a complete retard would have chosen the Gamecube / Xbox over the PS2. Those with a bit of cash to spare would have purchased both, as a few of my friends did.

Everyone owned a PS2; why do we need another one?
