I buy consoles for games, and I realize the BluRay player is there because the games use that format, but don't pitch it to me as a feature of the system.

Then buy the PS3 for the damn games.

Read my previous [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.123878#2534989] post with "teh haloz", why the hell would Sony not advertise their console as a multimedia center if it is a god damn multimedia center!! Blu-ray is a fucking feature of the PS3, why the hell wouldn't they tell you "Play the latest hot games, watch the high-profile movies on blu-ray....!"? I'm sorry if you're not interested in downloading TV shows, movies, music, ect... but there are plenty of people who are.

This is a problem with catering to just "gamers" because it's such a narrow niche. Because for some reason "gamers" feel entitled to be the center of attention, that means that a console should only play games. Well, why the hell can't it do other things? Plenty of other people are interested in the multimedia capabilities of the PS3, 360, or whatever. Why wouldn't Sony advertise the PS3 for what it is, a mutlimedia player.

Because you can get half decent PC`s (or maybe build one for cheaper(depends on how much your into that kind of thing),or buy a 360/wii(though not so much the wii)which have the same features,if not more (or at least improved,and why am i useing so many brackets??)

Well, that's fair enough. But that doesn't mean they should drop the price. Nobody here will buy one even if they do.

What the hell does PCs have anything do with anything here? We're not talking about PCs, I would go on a huge rant and curse a lot with that, but I'll spare you, we're not talking about PCs. I've said this a billion times before, so what if consoles are less powerful than PCs, I've already argued this with Khell, I will scream to the heavens if I have to, consoles are always behind consoles technolic wise, so shut up about it! Playstation 2, Nintendo Wii, do those words mean nothing against the presumtion that with PCs "more advance software means better crap!"?

Sorry if I'm overreacting (I probably am), but if that sentiment were true we wouldn't have internet on our phones. We'd just use them for calling.

Against HD-DVD.. not against digital distribution.. yet.

Or against plain old DVD. Most people are not upgrading to HDTV yet, and probably won't until HD broadcast is standard.

Seriously, if you only want DVD, why pay approximately $150 more for a feature you don't want. How about you wait till you really want (if ever) blu-ray and buy a player then... when it is cheaper.

Very true. With DVD players being as cheap as they are (twenty quid for a multiregion player, lower probably now), people who don't need a blu-ray player won't buy one for £180.

Pc`s come into the equation because they are the ultimate multimedia machine (or at least that was the original idea)power has nothing to do with it (at least not outside games)but we can go around in circles for days like this ,and i can`t be botherd so let`s just leave it at that

I don't know where the fuck you live, but the U.S. Economy has been failing for damn near two years now, and in some states (Michigan namely) it's been happening for much longer. The media has just admitted that we're in a recession since September of last year.

It may not be almost over, but don't be so bold as to claim the recession is in its infancy.

The Tre has some great games coming out this year and next year. It's making a comeback.

Frankly, it's a grim outlook for an overpriced console in an economic downturn.

Not to mention lack of great games.

See, thats my point. The pinnacles of so many genres are exclusive to the Ps3, and these genres are so widely reaching and diverse that no-one who can really call themselves a fan of any genre can say that they aren't going to get a Ps3. Value is not simply what it csts you, thats just price. Value is about what it costs compared to what you get back, something which the Ps3 effectively rapes everything else on.

That is all just an opinion. Actually I am looking more towards Heavy Rain. I don't care how good the value the console is if there is no price cut then I am not buying one.

No fanboy rant will convince me either.
