Well, if you played FPSes, then you'd know that shooting the same enemies gets tiresome after a while, sometimes within one game, let alone the whole genre vilifying the Russians. It is infuriating that this is the best they can come up with, and I sometimes feel insulted that I am part of their target audience. I continue to play them because the gameplay is good and [generally] balanced, and the online play is very replayable and enjoyable. I don't see why I should have to put up with some god-awful story to go with my good gameplay.

I nominate France. It would be refreshing to see them portrayed as a conquering, battle-proven, nation to be feared; as opposed to, well... you know. Do some neo-Napoleonic thing...

I agree, i would love to see a game where 2 countries in a similar region fight eachother, like 2 arab countries or african countries, or Europeans going at it, or how about america as the bad guy.
Or rather than a 'good' country vs a 'bad' country, the game gives the outline of a conflict with both sides being ass holes as it usually is in real life and then the player chooses from which perspective they want to fight as, kinda like Brink only done well.

Not many places have the military power to invade America, and most of the places that do wouldn't.
As for America VS. America, that would be kind of silly.

ripped from the wikipedia entry for MW3:

Plot
The game will immediately follow the events of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, where Russia continues its invasion of the United States of America, and has also expanded its offensive to European countries England, France and Germany.[7]

Yeah, its Russia invading Europe. Not Just any Europe, WESTERN EUROPE, what, did they just push eastern Europe to the side as they steamrolled to Paris with a giant brush?

Guys this game is actually also targeting an international audience as well as an American one (otherwise why bother having German, British or French campaigns?) But this is silly, unless they write the story of Russia vrs Absolutely everyone everywhere ever really well, and I mean REALLY well, the story wont be that interesting. I have alot of faith in the developer's of the game, but its going to take alot to make me think that Russia in this day and age is that land-hungry. And like I said before, I DONT MIND Russia being A bad guy, I am just sick of them being THE bad guy, and demand more from the industry.

I want the war simulator industry to challenge me, it is better for the industry to be more controversial in who they pick to be the bad guys then to be controversial in the vein of say, killing unarmed civilians in an airport. Pick someone other then White Northern Europeans as a bad guy, I do not care, it'dbe a fucking change from killing people who scream abuse at me in a slavic language, and damn the Political Correctness crowd when they scream racism, easy fix to that, make the main character an ethnicity other then white or have one of the campaigns have you playing as one of these non white bad guys killing, say, white Englishmen. There, instant diversity, controversy, variety and PROGRESS to the FPS genre and war games in general.

I am still going to play MW3 when it comes out, hoping they can salvage what the trailers and teasers based purely on my faith int he current developers. But we'll see.

I would love to play a campaign as a "bad" guy, a Nazi or a Taliban in games like CoD. This would have a lot more potential for telling interesting stories. It would be nice to show the human side of these oh so disposable enemies. It would make games more believable as a form of art rather than a form of cheap American propaganda. I am sick of being a shiny American hero. And I am sick of being the chosen elite soldier to save the fucking world... again.

Usually, the expression "having shades of grey" means having a morally ambiguous situation. This is a good thing.

Can you explain to me, an outsider to FPSes, why this matters?
It just gets old...and it's not like there is anything to indicate such a szenario (during the cold war it would have been a whole other story). And of course the mechanics matter a lot more but it's not there is a shortage of fps games so before you spent 60 bucks you consider any issue you might have with a game and might rather get a game with similar mechanics but a different scenario.

I really wish they would make a game where American's are the bad guy, trying to dominate the world or something. That would be a nice change of pace

I want to see a game where the Americans are the antagonists.

Because let's face it, as a military power they are total assholes.

Maybe they don't want to piss other countries off, I don't really know, anyway I would like to see a game where the main enemy was Britain, I would like to see how they would do the accents for the enemies and compare that with my own accent and those around me, to me it would be funny to hear some guy in the street talking and thinking "wow he really sounds like private Blogs from COD MW15" or something. I also think that it would be hilarious to get regional accents in, I would laugh endlessly if I was sent to kill enemies who occasionally had thick Yorkshire accents.

Whoever made that map kinda failed. There's a few states missing north of Illinois and Ohio.

OT:...yeah, not much to say that hasn't been said already.

Truth betold, I think they have russia just because they're lazy and don't feel like pissing off any current superpowers.
This

They made the Red Dawn remake with China invading but not wanting to offend them theyre going back and redoing things to make it North Korea. Also I'm a CoD Fanboy, and its not like they can just switch Enemys after a cliff hanger in MW2 and have the game make any since what so ever

Not asking them to switch out russia as an enemy, I just wanted the COD team, when they were including Europe, to make the war there more Interesting and just not more russian fodder to shoot at.

I wouldn't mind a Russian, American and Britain united front against like North Korea and stuff. Would be pretty good. We'd have the Russian Bear cavalry, the American's being dicks about everything, and the British secretly doing everything.

All I really want though is a sniper rifle that doesn't suck. You can't have a gun in a game as fast paced as CoD where you have to hold scope on a guy for 2 seconds to even remotely have a chance to hit him.

i like the idea of a neo-Napoleonic thing, also if they did it with a funky art style it would be amazing imo

Meh. Since no company would dare ever try making a game with western countries as the main foe, we're stuck with Russia/PMC/mexico. Thinking about it, mexicans are even more annoying then Russians, as it's even less plausible...I digress. The point is, the target audience of video games are mostly western so the west will never be considered. Personally, I'd like to see the EU become evil. And not like that controved conflict in Endwar, god that was daft.
