In Gears of War 2. The "emotional" scenes with Dom and Maria almost made me laugh they were so cheesy.

The winning moment:

"SNAKE!!! I LIVE THROUGH THIS ARM!!!"
Lampshaded in MGS4 where Kojima says a hearty "fuck you" to continuity and gives a bullshit explination for why that happened instead of using what would've made sense within the context of the game for anyone that payed attention to MGS3.

Oblivion- Most obvious Deus ex machina ending ever?

Deus ex: First of all Bob Page sucks! Walton Simons was much better insted we got a stock lame ass villan that we did not even got to fight. Simons could have returned just before you went to helios/the reactor in sector 3/last blue thing. Then we would have atlest had satisficing end game.

As stated before, pretty much all of Fallout 3. ESPECIALLY the ending.

And I totally agree about Shandra's death in NWN 2, although I should have seen it coming as she is a "bonus member who does not take up a party slot" even though she is in the party. (Btw, if the engine permits that, why are we limited to 2 members the rest of the time?)
That the game FORCES you to bring her murderer along as a valued party member doesn't help at all. (And along those lines, the game actually forces you to bring along every single playable NPC you encounter. Not exactly Baldur's gate, this.)
One of these days, I'm really gonna have to ink that "true ending of NWN2" I sketched the day after completing it...

Half Life 2: Even the best game ever isn't safe: in the last chapter, the plot demands that Gordon Freeman gets captured. Did the writers have any good ideas for making this happen? No. Very no. The best they could come up with to connect the dots between 'Gordon kicks arse' to 'Gordon gets captured' is to have him voluntarily get into device for holding prisoners. Twice. Here's an idea Mr PhD smarty pants: Why don't you not do that? Maybe you should just hold onto the back of it, instead, so you can actually get off of it?
I'd say that's all of Half-Life 2. Having you jump into the thing is just the culmination of the long nonsensical railroad of coincidences and bullshit-ex-machinae that the game calls a "plot". They just dress it up as an allegory about destiny and stuff like that.

I don't get why your complaining...
Fallout 3 did that because they wanted you to either be evil enough to risk someone's life to do it...Or you risk your life to finish your father's project.
It makes perfect sense.
The entire game is about "Good or Evil" not "Manservant or Womanservant"
Bad storytelling turns it into "You have to choose between Good and Evil because your previously-helpful radiation-immune friend over here has suddenly decided that it's time for a pointless sacrifice."

Ace Combat 5.

Why are fighter pilots so hung on LOVE & PEEEEACE? Nagase is particularly bad about this but she's the love interest so I forgive her.
Gee, I dunno Mr. "Kill them all, espicially the children!", maybe they were betrayed by their own comrades for a stupid little thing like power? Maybe they feel that war, in essence, is a fools game...and only fools play it, to ruin the lives of good people?

Not even that, maybe its because ALL fighter pilots MUST be crazy, war-obsessed maniacs who would drop a bomb, or in this case a damn satellite, on a defenseless city to win a war based off of pride?[/Sarcam]
Except of course they were bitching, pissing, and moaning almost from the very beginning of the game. And Chopper dies because he's a complete idiot who doesn't think to do a controlled splashdown on the big ass river running through the map.

However, at least the actions of the wingmen in Ace Combat 5 are consistent with their professed morality. They hardly ever shoot anyone, kill ratios of 20:1 between me and all four of them are far from unknown.
