No, we just don't want to have to squint at a screen for five hours looking for one mundane object to fit the one lock. We would rather do something interesting, be that maiming an alien or commanding legions of aliens to main and kill other aliens.
Interesting? Playing the 2008 equivalent of Wolfenstien 3D for about the 1000th is interesting? Sorry, I'd rather use my head and work things out via logical thought (or not so logical in some cases) rather than hammer the 'shoot' button for 20 levels of generic, non thought provoking bollocks.

Guess it's just a difference of brainpower.........sorry, difference of taste.
Because mindlessly clicking one thing to another for hours on end is so stimulating.

Hardly. Just because your FPS mentality causes your brain to shit through your eyes when you're tested with something more challenging with 'you have a blue key card, a red key card and a blue door, what do you do?', doesn't mean anyone else sits and clicks aimlessly.

I bet you don't even play FF10 right, just keep pressing X so it attacks constantly? That sounds fun. That means you don't have to bother with any of that pesky story too, seeing as X also skips that.....oh wait......FF10 has voice actors.....you don't even have to read it! Wish my life were that simple.

I definately miss the way they used to be, I grew up on games like King's Quest and Monkey Island. But they newer one's aren't bad. Still Life is pretty good, and they're releasing a sequel to it this year, give that a try if you're looking for some new ones.

The only one I've ever played was 5 Days A Stranger. And I thoroughly enjoyed it. I want to play Day of The Tentacle and Monkey Island n' stuff but my computer doesn't run DOS games.

Curse Of Monkey Island is my fave of the series. The insult sword-fighting sequence is brilliant as well as the whole look of the game.

Murray the skull is always amusing too

Don't forget Zack and Wiki for the Wii, which is one of the more popular third-party Wii titles. Like everyone else had stated: there are point&click games out there, go look.

If you have copies of the games, SCUMMVM will let you play them on modern PCs, or a mobile phone even. I had Monkey Island 1 & 2, Beneath a Steel Sky and Flight of the Amazon Princess on my N95 until recently.

Discworld II and Discworld Noir were my only real point and clickers.
But I loved them.
If my PC would play them I would have played through them at least another 5 more times.

Reading through this, I now have a list of P&Cs to hunt down and play. I must admit I really do miss the heyday though. How come no-one has mentioned the Zork series? Those were great! Still think Grim Fandango is my all time favourite though, and I do have a massive soft-spot in my heart for Full Throttle. I'll have to try out that SCUMMVM, I've got loads I'd like to play again...

Anyone played any of the gabe knight games? first one especially was good. looked just like the french comic. i don't speak french but i looked up where the game came from (when i was a kid) and then played the 2nd and 3rd.

I only played the 3rd game once though, then gave it back.

I remember the 2nd being like the x-files point and click where you navigated through stills of video location shots and the convo/action choices were full video recordings too.

Yeah, there's tons and tons of P&C flash games. Check out addictinggames.com, kongregate.com, armorgames.com, etc. Like that one guy said, some of them are really good and they're all free without a download or anything..which is awesome.

Full Throttle! That's the name of it. I never played it myself but remember watching a friend play it. I've been trying to think of it's name all night from mental images. Cheers dude :D

OK,I love point and click adventure games, always have.
I have played Monkey Island, Full Throttle, Broken Sword, Etc.
However, why is it that when anyone mentions "lazy" games do they bring up Guitar Hero, and how they should learn a real instrument and aren't musically inclined. My whole family is musically inclined and we love guitar hero, its fun simple and something we can all do together. If playing guitar hero is "lame" and we need to go learn a real instrument then you should: Go join the army iinstead of playing call of duty, join the space marines and kill real aliens, and for you point and clickers, go to a real pirate island and randomly start clicking on rocks to see if they turn over and have a hidden key :p
Seriously, who cares what kind of games people play as long as they have fun? As long as you never take it too seriously.
