Once HG/SS release it will be possible to get them all, assuming you have kept up on promos for the unique ones. Everything not available in HG/SS are in DPP (again, assuming you keep up with the promos for the otherwise unobtainable ones).

For the people who go on saying it's not possible with all the ones available, I know several people who have almost pulled it off and are only a few from doing it, all without cheating too. With the online trading and internet forums, it's easy to get whatever you need.

Yeah. I forget the specifics, but at some point you can pick one of the Kanto starters. One of the big reasons these games are being released, despite being a HUGE money maker, is that it allows them to phase out Pal Park and the GBA games, giving people more reason to not worry about picking up a DSi.

we will never catch em all and who would even try now, back in my day there was 150 but now there is like 500. too many to catch, the re-release of gold and silver is a great sign though i mean this is the game i played when i was a kid. (many wasted hours but hey it was a fun game)
