The pokemon has "thankfully" abandoned the idea of "catching them all". Event he anime, the main proponent of catching them all has abandoned them, stating that to truly catch every pokemon is impractical, time-consuming, and even world endangering. "Oh you caught the beings of space and time. That can't be go-" and the universe caves in.

There is no reward for catching them all. Only a stupid certificate.

If there's any point to pokemon, it's to become the very best. That no one ever was. To catch them is your real test. To train them is your cause.
