Meh, new Pokemon. Everybody knows anything after Gold and Silver was pure blasphemy and just milking the franchise. I mean, they're obviously running out of ideas; those two new pokemon look hardly original, and anything that IS original will just be completely weird. Why can't they just make a fully 3D 1st person pokemon MMO already?

Without Gen3 or Gen4, we'd have no Blaziken or Gardevoir. We'd have no Empoleon. We would have no Absol, no Garchomp.

They've DONE different stuff with the franchise in the spinoffs. It's the main game that they keep mostly the same.

I'm curious as to how they'll "innovate" things, though.

I'll definitely be interested to see what their idea of "innovation" is, especially with respect to the Pokemon franchise. However, you have to admit, they're running out of ideas (Combee, anyone?). I doubt I'll buy it.

And you're right, without Gen 3, we wouldn't have Gardevoir (although that's the only one you listed I can agree with) and I expect there are a few more exceptions to the rule (none, I might add, that instantly spring to mind. Except Torterra. He was pretty cool). But they're far to few to outweigh the veritable landfill that is the stupid Pokemon ideas that have been coming up in the more recent games.

I can't wait for new pokemon! I just can't figure out how they could make Pokemon more in depth and competitive without further confusing and diluting the current mechanics. There is just SO MUCH involved in the 4th Gen, and its really shown in the newest remakes: I'm over 40 hours in and I'm not even past the Johto region... Either way, 5th Gen will be awesome.

Ditto to $5 on Light type Pokemon, Funk.

As for the new games, I might give them a whirl, but honestly, I'm having a hard time keeping up with all these things. How many pokemon are there now, like, 5000?

Sure you made some mistakes, but don't just give up on it! Keep going, fix the problems! I know you want to make money, just like any other major corporation, but you have other things drawing in cash for you, take some risks with this particular brand!

EDIT: Also, that "new" Pokemon almost looks like a pallet-swapped Vulpix. *further headdesk*

Please let this be the entry where they allow you to disable the "YOUR HP IS LOW, USE A POTION" alarm. I mean, come on. The thing doesn't even stop when you withdraw your Pokemon! No, you have to withdraw, select another, watch the withdraw animation, watch the POKEBALL GOOOOO animation, and THEN it stops. Unacceptable.

And how about an overhaul of the HM system, huh? My Pidgeotto is a flying type, it should already know how to fly. My Scyther has swords for arms, it should already know Cut. I understand the reasoning behind locking the ability to use these moves outside of battle until you get a certain badge, but there's no excuse to waste a valuable move slot (which you can't back until much, much later, mind you) on something as useless as Rock Smash.

I'm curious as to how long you were waiting for the information to be announced. This is pretty late for a news post, and we all know how much you like Pokemon.

I'm excited for these new games. I knew they'd be for the DS, but I wasn't sure about much else. They always change something about the battle system and I really want to see what happens this time. I really hope it's not just a new type.

Also for everyone saying they've run out of ideas, I'm sure others said the same thing when they saw magmar, grimer, or dunsparse.

It would be nice to see innovation. But the formula works well. I want to see one uber game that combines every land mass and includes every single game. I still haven't caught them all in any version, haven't even played diamond/pearl. It would be nice to be provided with a definitive way of catching them all.

Jesus I'm surprised they're still coming up with ideas for Pokemon. I mean you'd think they'd be scraping the bottom of the barrel with names like Black and White. They say that "every aspect will be reborn innovatively," does this mean that they've hired Molyneux as the spokes person?

Jokes aside I hope that it meets expectations though I don't think its really a formula that you can screw up.
