And how about an overhaul of the HM system, huh? My Pidgeotto is a flying type, it should already know how to fly. My Syther has swords for arms, it should already know Cut. I understand the reasoning behind locking the ability to use these moves outside of battle until you get a certain badge, but there's no excuse to waste a valuable move slot (which you can't back until much, much later, mind you) on something as useless as Rock Smash.

Thing is, the pokemon have no personality beyond being stat templates. and that is it.
As I said, why is EVERY wild level 7 Rattata so eager to quick attack my level 100 Rayquaza? Why is my Magmar's Smokescreen just as effective (And exactly the same) as my opponent's Weezing's? Why is EVERY pokemon ready to obey you as soon as you catch it (Save for if you cheat and catch a legendary VERY early in the game)
