In the last pokémon game I finished I used 3 (possibly 4) I think. Was Ruby and After I spent the time to evolve a whalemer I thought it was kind of fair to use all the Regis available in that version. Considering most of the elite four were using pokémon that were about 5-10 levels higher than mine I think it was fair.

I hate grinding so yeah I would use them again. And I have for every version I have played.

I really should get one of the more recent ones.

When I was younger I did. I felt like a badass by having such neat Pokemon with me. Nowadays, though, I prefer to use everyday team members instead.

I believe there's an urban legend that most US banknotes have small traces of Legendary Pokemon on them.
Yeah, but it's just an urban legend. It's only true of Arceus.

Yes, but only because there is a serious lack of interesting flying type pokemon that aren't.
Dunno man, Swellow, Skarmory, Talonflame,Honchkrow are all pretty damn awesome.

No, I make a point of not doing it, just because I like levelling ones with multiple evolutions more. Although I wouldn't advise anyone for or against. I just prefer having my choice of team that I've levelled up from the first stage, rather than what are essentially the Pokemon you are expected to use.

Eh, for the first two Pokemon games I ever played, yeah, I did. I had a team consisting of starters and legendaries.

Nowadays? I only use legendaries for story purposes. Like in X and Y, fighting Lysandre right after catching the legendary of the game, it makes sense to use the legendary.

Completely decimated the Elite Four with my team, and the only real advantage I had was using a starter, which I only did because the Fennekin-Braxien-Delphox line is freakin' adorable. Completely destroyed the champion with three Pokemon on my team.

I had leveled them up to around level 80, just to be sure.

I did back when I was younger/ played these games on my first run. At the moment though and with recent entries I've tried going through without using Legendaries (though I still catch them). I have a Kyogre in a box at the moment and I'm fine with that because I think Sharpedo is more of a bad-ass (even if it is a glass cannon). I still haven't beaten X/Y and honestly don't play it too often but I don't plan on using legendaries and as I said in another thread I don't even bother with Mega Evolutions at this point though when it comes to Mega Evolutions, those seem more like little power boosts for the sake of giving popular monsters another power boost/form.

You know you're question got me thinking; so I went back to check all my games (I haven't re-started in my blue since I got it way back in the day). I realized not only have I not used any legendary for the Elite Four but they just sit in my box gathering dust. Even after catching the opposite legendary to N, which honestly was a hindsight 20/20 thing. I have never used a legendary for anything. Now I feel the need to actually use one just to see how they work.

I generally dont like legendaries on my team, with one exception: Suicune. So it hasnt been a problem.

Sometimes.
Frankly I just want to win the game as quickly as I can. My starters usually do most of the work though anyway. For X version I beat the elite four with my three starters, all fire types. I didn't really care how I did it so long I won.

I really don't. The legendaries are not that great, the main appeal to them is that they're already high leveled and usually learn some pretty scary moves. All the Regi legendaries learn Zap Cannon, and Kyogre learns Water Spout, for example. But yeah, the reason people run with a lot of them is that they need very little grinding from the get go, and they can hold their own in most situations.

And usually by the time you hit the legendaries, you already have a cemented team. When you have a Pokemon you put a lot of effort into and are familiar with for your battling strategies and swap it with some big Pokemon, it messes your stategy up. It don't work the way I want it to.

Yes, and then my Zekrom got stomped because it is inferior to Reshiram.
One of the truest statements ever, of all time. Though I would change Zekrom to every other Pokemon, but that's just me. :D

Although in that fight it is true considering the only dragon move they both use is a special attack which is where Reshiram excels.

... seriously, fuck the Hoenn grind, its awful just because you can't even reliably grind. Do yourself a favour, pick Torchic. It has an advantage over two of the Elite Four in Emerald and three in Ruby/Sapphire. In fact, I think the whole reason that Wallace replaces Steven in Emerald is to counter-act how Blaziken tore up the Elite Four in Ruby/Sapphire. After that, pretty much a Gardevoir and a Banette and you can pretty easily dominate the Elite Four, and two of those are picked up so early on that they'll probably be in their 40s by the time you reach Ever Grande City.
Make that 3, I fucked up Drake Badly with Blaziken and Sky Uppercut. I'm not even sure how I did it.

Nah. Usually, i focused on leveling my starter pokemon and one hit ko'ing my opponent's pokemon.
This. By the time I hit the endgame, my starter pokemon are pretty much capable of anything.

It did always intrigue me why you even have to fight the Elite 4 after amassing so many legendary pokemon. By that stage you've proven quite clearly that you're a great trainer, any battle after that is merely a formality.

I went through the trouble of capturing them. Dang right I'm going to use them!

But only once. I may put together some Typemaster teams for other runthroughs. But here's the team I'm going to use for my first Gen 6 run: Zapdos, Ho-oh, Jirachi, Palkia, Virizion, Zygarde

(NOTE: Zygarde acquired by trading a shiny Latios. Unlike others...I'm not that interested in shinies.)

Generally I don't, Pokemon games are easy enough as it is already and I like to have a team of six non-legendaries. I did use Groudon on my first playthrough of Ruby, Zekrom in White and Lugia in XD so it's not something I always stick to.
