Umbreon with:

Toxic
Mean Look
Payback
Pursuit

Not the quickest but you can prevent him from switching out and hit him for double while you are a type resistant tank.

Weavile and Absol also work.

A scizor with bullet punch should OHKO if Adamant and EV'd properly, possibly even if its Jolly.
Also, scarftran can OHKO it with fire blast, again, when fully EV'd and postively natured. If you don't want to use a sweeper to deal with it, wall it with a blissey or celebi then proceed to toxic/leech seed stall away.

You may want to check out some better builds online, as the ones you both have are quite shit. gengar should have focus blast not energy ball, and your torterra makes me laugh.

btw gengar has levitate not pressure

Get a Lucario. Close Combat.

It's dead, you win. Congratulations.
It's a ghost type..... fighting moves don't affect it. Although a Lucario with some dark moves might do some hefty damage.

Not quite actually. He taught it Energy Ball, not Focus Blast. And Torterra is actually quite the tank, if you haven't tried him I recommend it. Seeing as how Torterra is only weak against Fire, Flying, Ice, and Bug. And my friend has no Bug types or moves, same with Flying, or Ice. The only thing I have to watch for is his Arcanine. And quite frankly he breed that one specifically for Defense and Attack, while limiting the Speed beyond belief. In other words, I can just hit him with Earthquake before he can even think of hitting me with an attack.

You could try the FEAR strategy.
A low level gets attacked, survives due to holding Focus Sash with 1HP then uses Endeavour. Next turn use a priority attack (like quick attack, but that won't work since Gengar is Ghost) to win.
It's cheap but it works.

Mach Punch, priority fighting type attack.

I would suggest having an equally powerful ghost type...such as Misdreavus or Giratina if possible...using a Focus Sash would help too..just my input

Fighting doesn't affect ghost. Use Shadow sneak, it'll be super effective. Sucker punch always goes first as well. It does 80 damage, and is super effective. Can umbreon learn that? if so, that's probably your best bet. Umbreon in general is a good choice. Resists Pyschic and ghost moves, has great SP. Def, and can hit hard with super effective sucker punch/dark pulse/payback

Try the FEAR tactic, it works and it also pisses your opponent off as well.

1. Get a Focus Sash item
2. Teach the Pokemon Endevour
3. Teach the Pokemon Quick attack
4. Do the above three on Ratatta

Teach a Ratatta Endevour and Quick Attack, give it the Focus Sash. When Ratatta gets one hit KO'd, Focus Sash will leave it with one HP, then you use Endevour, making the opponent have one HP as well, then use Quick Attack since it almost always attacks first and will do a minimum of 1 HP damage. Then you'll win.

Unless the opponent sees it coming, will work no matter what level you are. All the more funny if there's a huge level difference.

Try a Dark or Steel pokemon. Steel have a TON of resistances.

Either that or a ground/rock type. They aren't resistant to psychic or ghost, but they'll block the electric attack.

Why would you give a Torterra special attacks when it's attack stat is so much higher? Same with Cranidos/Rampardos? Not that I would use Rampardos on Gengar, since it's slow with low defense, but it has the second highest attack stat IN THE GAME (although Marowak with Thick Club and Medicham with Pure Power can pass it, statwise only Deoxys Attack Form beats it out). You want to hit things with that beastly attack stat. Anyway, if your Torterra has Stone Edge or Crunch and decent attack you might be able to take it out. Try a Kangaskhan. It can have Scrappy as it's ability which lets it hit Ghosts with normal attacks, so if you put in some attack EVs and max it's happiness Return should one hit KO. It also has access to Sucker Punch and/or Crunch. Basically use anything that can hit really hard with same type attack bonus or super effective damage. I really doubt his Gengar has the proper nature or EVs so it will be made of paper and lacking offense, especially with that awful move pool it has.

Hey my friend has a lv 100 gengar thats really irritating. I've tried everything but his gengar has phsychic, shadow ball, energy ball, and thunderbolt. Thats shot down so many of my pokemon. I'm thinking of a torterra with thunder, earthquake, giga drain, and crunch. Good Idea, or is ther a better way?
Miltank with Scrappy will rip that thing apart, since it has monstrous Sp. Def and HP, and can only be damaged by this Gengar's none STAB moves.

Just wondering, is there anyone else feeling that they really know nothing about pokemon when they thought that they were "the very best, like no one ever was"?

I haven't played since gold/silver (and they were a bit too over the top) and to be honest have no idea what's going on.

"Back in my day...(Red/blue/yellow)" there wasn't ghost type, there were 151 Poke'mon, and Charizard couldn't learn fly (he could in yellow but that was a lie).

Is it worth trying to play the new games coming out without playing all of the iterations in between?

Should I just give up and keep playing Red/Blue/Yellow? :(

Okay, first as a suggestion for your facing the Gengar, go with a dark or steel type if you want to counter act the ghost and psychic moves which sound the most dangerous. If you are willing to train a Shiftry or Cacturne you will eliminate all effective hits from Gengar. (Dark Grass type not weak to grass, electric, ghost, or psychic)
Second, if you really want to use your torterra, be sure to have a dark move, such as crunch, and if you want to protect it against flying type moves try stone edge, your torterra can learn it and it does great damage.
Finally Gengar is weak to dark, psychic, and ghost, not ground because it does have levitate. Gengar also has massive Sp. Atk. but low defenses so if you can survive a hit and have a decent pokemon with a powerful super effective move you should be able to take it out.
And is there anything I left out?

Also marter had a point with the weavile, and tehweave had the dark and steel types right.

Alakazam would bash its face in, but it would have to be around the same level.
