they're supposedly bad because they try to steal the already imprisoned pokemon from other people, rather than attacking and imprisoning the free ones, like the decent folk of the pokeworld.
in reality, they're just staggeringly stupid, because they never realised that it was actually considerably LESS EFFORT to simply catch wild pokemon.
as for your question about meat... magic man done it. "kami", if you will.
You forget that caught and previously trained pokemon have higher stats.
They are just playing the numbers game

Overall the thing about team rocket I think was an effort to market to westerners. Since we are all about trivializing the rights of animals and owning them and making damn sure everyone around us knows they can't have our animals.
I'm going to hope folks don't argue with that since there are a few thousand years of that belief in some fairly popular governing belief systems in the west

Lil kids don't usually bother caring about that kind of moral dilemma.
In kids defense morality tends to be the adults version of make believe.

1. Steal other trainer's Pokémon.
2. ????????????????
3. PROFIT
That is pretty much it. Their goal was world domination, their plans were inadequate.
Nice South Park gnomes reference there dude. LMAO
But yea, Team Rocket's goal is basically to steal other people's pokemon, which they tend to suck at big time.
But truthfully, the only real thing that bother's me about the Pokemon cartoon is that the character Ash has been trying to become a pokemon master for many seasons now, and I just think they should just let him become one, allowing a different character to take his place as the main character of the show to cronicle that person's journey to become a master. And if kids fuss that doing so will mean no more dumb pikachu to watch along with Ash, then the new trainer can have his or her own pikachu to fill the hole.
My answer to that would be to be a master you must catch one of ALL the pokemon, so since EVERT SEASON they add 100-200 NEW ones that he can't catch them all, i wanna see the season of Pokemon when Ash hangs himself cuz it's so pointless
I'm waiting for the day people realize the reason there are new pokemon in different seasons is because they are on different continents.
It is almost like they are trying to mimick reality where every continent doesn't have the same 15 animals.
You'll also notice every single time you are in a climate that is the same as a climate in the previous game you start seeing largely the same pokemon from the last game.
Holy shit it makes sense!
Always annoys me when people complain about the extra pokemon. The moment they go back to an old continent and suddenly get flooded by the newest pokemon only without some kind of explanation I'll start freaking too.
As it stands they've seemed to explain it.
