That is pretty much it. Their goal was world domination, their plans were inadequate.
Nice South Park gnomes reference there dude. LMAO

But yea, Team Rocket's goal is basically to steal other people's pokemon, which they tend to suck at big time.

But truthfully, the only real thing that bother's me about the Pokemon cartoon is that the character Ash has been trying to become a pokemon master for many seasons now, and I just think they should just let him become one, allowing a different character to take his place as the main character of the show to cronicle that person's journey to become a master. And if kids fuss that doing so will mean no more dumb pikachu to watch along with Ash, then the new trainer can have his or her own pikachu to fill the hole. :p
My answer to that would be to be a master you must catch one of ALL the pokemon, so since EVERT SEASON they add 100-200 NEW ones that he can't catch them all, i wanna see the season of Pokemon when Ash hangs himself cuz it's so pointless

no ash his lightning mouse is supposed to be special.
when he owned that entire flock of spearow episode 1.

(why the hell didn't he catch all those spearow?)
Because they don't actually 'feint', they die. The only reason your pokemon don't die is because mewtwo is secretely looking out for you and instantly replaces your 'unconscious' pokemon with a clone whenever you heal it.

Nah, I think they'd just make the like this:

- Ash finds a pokemon
- Ash becomes friends with pokemon
- TR shoots at Ash
- New pokemon jumps in front of Ash to save him.

Think about all of the episodes you could milk from that, one for each pokemon.
gotta kill'em all! Poe-kay-MON!

There was an episode where team rocket wanted to catch a few wild remoraid using pokeballs. Yeah, Ash and co. didn't like that for some reason... Apparently Team Rocket doing anything is bad according to Ash; even using legitimate means of catching wild pokemon.

Catching all the pokemon would probably work in the videogames, but doing so in the cartoons seems to be an impossiblity. Regardless of how Ash's journey ends, I just want him to be eventually replaced by a new main protaganist for the cartoon series. Just have him win one of those pokemon tournaments in the show, have him finish whatever business he has left with his friends and team rocket shortly afterwords, and pass on the torch to a new character for the show to be centered on, if not end the show period.

well team rocket steals the pokemon of other trainers because they will be stronger than one from the wild and thae use pokemon to steal and sell. as for the meat thing i guess that people do eat real animals AND pokemon in the cartoon show the cerulean sisters had an aquarium and there were non pokemon fish in it and in pokemon diamond/pearl//platinum there is a book saying that some guy went around killing pokemon and another saying to throw the bones of fish pokemon into the water so they would return or something

The one time a Pokemon villain carried a gun, and pointed it at anyone in the show, the episode got banned. Stupid thing is there are so many other shows, Western and Eastern, that are aimed at kids and still have characters with guns and bombs. Though if you'll note the likes of Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlett, they had plenty of explosions but never any guns...

But yeah, Pokemon with guns would be pretty dark, but also pretty good. Yet also pretty banned. I guess guns in anime are doomed to be kept to the likes of Ghost in the Shell, Death Note, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Elfen Lied, Hellsing, etc...

team rocket are bad guys i suppose, they steal pokemon and kill some (cubone's mother marowak in FR LG) Jessie and James however are not. They are kinda bad i suppose, they try to steal pokemon but never really suceed. And they help sometimes, and since they only suceed at helping they are only good at being good.

As has been said, they steal other peoples pokemon, then try to take over the world. People generally veiw trying to take over the world as something evil (Hitler, Napoleon, etc)

Pokemon in retrospect is sick, the capturing and collecting of pokemon willy nilly is dubious at best, most countries have laws about capturing wild animals and conservation. Then they built a society on fighting them, cock fighting, dog fighting and even horse fighting exist today and are consider some of the most barbaric activities that exist. These animals are mistreated and abused for entertainment and money.

But finally the pokemon are SENTIENT, Meowth and the episode with subtitles prove that pokemon think and the same concepts of self and existence as humans. So its not just animal cruelty, its slavery and oppression of intelligent species.

Yeah. If I were James, I would have probably either killed myself with that Firearm, or Jesse. (They aren't allowed to kill the main characters!)

Maybe I'd injure Brock.

Team Rocket steal other people's pokemon.
Instead of enslaving wild animals to beat up other childrens' pets, then stealing their money.
Thinking too hard about it is always a bad thing.

I hated Pokemon from the beginning anyways. It came out when I was in early high school, and I just never got into it. You can't *steal* something like a Pokemon though, you kidnap them. Stealing implies ownership, which isn't the case with pets or relatives... Then again, you do capture unwilling wild animals in Pokemon. Hmm....

they're supposedly bad because they try to steal the already imprisoned pokemon from other people, rather than attacking and imprisoning the free ones, like the decent folk of the pokeworld.
in reality, they're just staggeringly stupid, because they never realised that it was actually considerably LESS EFFORT to simply catch wild pokemon.

as for your question about meat... magic man done it. "kami", if you will.
You forget that caught and previously trained pokemon have higher stats.

They are just playing the numbers game ;).

Overall the thing about team rocket I think was an effort to market to westerners. Since we are all about trivializing the rights of animals and owning them and making damn sure everyone around us knows they can't have our animals.

I'm going to hope folks don't argue with that since there are a few thousand years of that belief in some fairly popular governing belief systems in the west :p.

In kids defense morality tends to be the adults version of make believe.

I'm waiting for the day people realize the reason there are new pokemon in different seasons is because they are on different continents.

It is almost like they are trying to mimick reality where every continent doesn't have the same 15 animals.

You'll also notice every single time you are in a climate that is the same as a climate in the previous game you start seeing largely the same pokemon from the last game.

Holy shit it makes sense!

Always annoys me when people complain about the extra pokemon. The moment they go back to an old continent and suddenly get flooded by the newest pokemon only without some kind of explanation I'll start freaking too.

As it stands they've seemed to explain it.
