The aesthetic change is interesting, but I really don't like all three starters and both legenderies. There was always something I liked in introductions of the previous five generations, so this is a real let down for me.
Then again, I don't have a 3DS, so.

OK, first, that is one of the cutest pictures I've ever seen. Thank you.

And I hope it's not a Renamon, though it totally could be. And that would probably make it fire/fighting.

Also, just hit me that the first 3d Pokémon games are going to be called X/Y/Z, as in the three dimensions.
I didn't even think about the X/Y/Z thing being representative of 3D. I just figured Nintendo had run out of things to label their Pokemon versions. I guess I'll take that as a big FU from Nintendo to people like me who said this new gen wouldn't be in full 3D. Still I'm pleasantly surprised.

Here are my thoughts
0:27 Oh god have they replaced bikes with roller skates? what would Prof Oak say...
0:31 Damnit not more pokemon! there's enough already! we're never gunna catch em all!
0:40 Great combat looks just like the stadium versions.
1:20 I feel like this one is inspired from the movie "Princess mononoke"

Overall a resounding meh, just making it 3D won't make it better. I'd much prefer a ridiculously long game that spans all the continents and let's you travel through all the regions catching literally all the pokemon in one game. Nintendo I expect that game to be your final pokemon release.

My initial reaction

Glad they're moving up to 3D away from the sprites. And the simultaneous worldwide release will be impressive if they manage it.

My initial reaction is positive, but am I the only one who thinks that this gen is coming a bit... early? I dunno, maybe I'm wrong on this, but it feels like we JUST got Black and White 2, and now a new gen? I'm just saying, I'm still adequately satisfied with the previous gen to start pining for a new one.

All that being said, can I get a hell yeah? First 3D Pokemon game?

The starters are... kinda mixed in my opinion. The fire one looks great (like most people here, that's probably the one I'll start with), the water one looks interesting, if nothing else, and the grass one doesn't appeal to me at all. Then again, that usually seems to be the pattern with starters, so maybe it's just par for the course.

The legendaries look neat, especially that deer one. Think I'll probably take the version with him on the cover.

All in all, aside from the "already?" factor, I'm all aboard on this. Frankly, I was expecting the announcement to be just another side game or something, not a proper main-game release.

I am definitely caught of guard. More so because I expected a hoenn remake.

But I am still with it. I don't like the water starter but who cares, the new legendariers are based off those markings in the ground!

First thing first, so they had all gone Math equation on us eh (X and Y)? I guess they had took some notes from Adventure Time (mathematical).

Second thing, it's about time they give it a good overhaul with the graphic!!! Sure the small used of the 3d for the Black and White games were alright not it wasn't fully 3d (most of it was just 2d pop out sort of 3d effect). I wouldn't say it's perfect since it look like they are still using the up down left right direction but none the less I prefer the new graphic than the old 2D graphic.

Third thing, the new Pokemon reveal so far look ok but yet again I'm never been a hater when it come to new Pokemon designs (well not outright hate it to the point I make complaining comments on it). I like the water frog for some strange reason. Also I see what they did with the X and Y Pokemon (the Y Pokemon shape like the letter Y while X Pokemon antler look like the letter X aswell well sort of).

Lastly, it look like they may finally won me over to get a 3DS but I'm not too sure I will be getting it. It's not that I'm getting tried of the franchise more like if I got time to play it (I got a small back logs of unplayed games that need to be played).

Oh, you guys are finally making it 3D, but where's the gameplay innovation?
It doesn't need it. It's a sequel. There have been countless games that have done this.

I'm not complaining about the game or anything, but the starters look unoriginal. Considering that the Water Frog and Fire Fox lines have been done before. Also, I will be giving up the series if the Fire Starter is ANOTHER Fighting type. One last thing, does anyone have any idea on what the Grass starter is supposed to resemble? Kind of looks like a beaver or some sort of rodent.

Also, I've been wanting a 3D game for a while, because 2D Pokemon games have always felt a bit... static due to their battles. With it going 3D, at least each Pokemon can actually be seen hitting each other like in the show instead of having portraits hit each other.

The grass type reminds me of a wood chuck.

I feel like the final evolution for the fire type will be an Anthromorphic (Renamon-looking) Fire/Psychic for some reason. It has that sort of feel to it. (By the way, the fox line may have been done before but this is a kitsune (However you spell it), We are lacking in that department)

This is the first time I won't like a water type starter. A frog is one thing but it's like they hardly tried with him and just put all of their effort into the grass or fire starters.

Looks like generation 6 has come quicker than we thought, as serebii.net has got some pretty shocking but awesome information

http://www.serebii.net/index2.shtml

3 new starter Pokemon, the 2 new legendary's, and we have learned the game will be fully 3D (as in animation wise)

When will this thing be released? October apparently, Game freak must have had this in development since B/W 1, which could explain why B/W2 was B/W 1 with just some extra things pasted on, colour me intrigued!

EDIT: Here is a video of Generation 6, the new Pokemon, and the new 3D graphics, enjoy guys :)

Also the game seems to be in Paris o_O

Wow it actually looks really good.

I'm glad the Fire Starter is a fox (or something). I normally always choose the Fire Starter but I didn't in the last gen because I don't like pigs... At least I got a grass snake though.

Actually really excited now XD

The X and Y play up the 3D aspect of the game. It's the first 3D Pokemon game, so the versions are called X, Y and Z. The dimensions of 3D.

Credit TheEvilCheese for pointing that out to me.

I really don't like the fire starter, I mean all the other's look good I guess but the fire starter just looks weak, can't that frog thing be on fire? that would be cool.
