Absol is one I rarely hear mentioned, that i use.

I didn't see anyone else with a Dugtrio. Jeez, that thing was so overpowered I could KO most things with one move. In Sapphire, I also levelled up my Lunatone to ridiculous o'clock.

I'm currently training up a whirlipede. I don't know if those are popular at all, I highly doubt it, but I love the little guy. I know that when I was younger playing Yellow I'd train up certain Pokemon just because I liked the look, though none come to mind at the moment.
