I have a level 64 Porygon at the moment. No-one seems to train the basic Porygon anymore since it has 2 extra evolutions now. But I like how Porygon looks compared to the roundness of P2 and PZ.

Also, lv100 Pichu. Just cause.

I'm surprised that people are saying Nidoking as a Pokemon nobody would level up. I would think for sure something that awesome would get more attention. Back in my run through of yellow he was my main man, tearing up everything before him. Last I remember his move set was: Surf, Pay Day, Horn Drill, and Double Kick (I was a kid back then, so I had no idea what a really good moveset was).

As for Pokemon I train up that no-one else does, I guess I ended up with some when I've done my Nuzlocke runs. My one Spearow (now a Fearow) was my savior more than once against total wipes and my Ratticate served me well (both in Gold). And I can't forget my my Shroomish and Whismer who fell on my Nuzlocke run (Shrima and Ozzy you will be missed).

I usually go for pretty standard tournament dudes, but I grew a soft spot for one of my pokemon when actually playing the game and tried to make him at least somewhat useful in competitive battling. Didn't work very well... but did you know he's the only pokemon with a stat total of 414?

His name? MASQUERAIN!

Nidoking (and Nidoqueen) are powerhouses now in gen5. If you get a Nidoran from Dream World (really easy by the way. I have 3), it has Sheer Force in it's King/Queen form. Basically, Sheer Force means that attacks with a secondary effect (Blizzard=Freezing, Thunder=Paralize, Fire Blast=Burn etc) don't get their secondary attack but gain 33% to their power!

Then equip a Life Orb = "When this item is held by a Pokémon, the damage from the moves used by the holder is increased by 30%. The holder loses 10% of their maximum HP each turn."

So that's an attack like Blizzard or Thunder etc with 63% more power as standard!

I used an all Flying type team at one point in Red... boy did fighting the elite 4 suck... I hated Lorelei but if I could make it past her was generally a breeze.

I used Pidgeot, Fearow, Gyrados (look it up he's water/flying for some reason, yay x4 electric weakness), Dragonite (dragon/flying x4 ice weakness), and Zapdos
Now that I think about it I should have picked a charmander for that play through instead of bulbasaur

I tended to train a Sentret and evolve it it Furret.
I love furret because it is a versatile Pokemon that can learn a variety of moves (including the ice/fire/thunder punches)

Oh, and i traded so i could get an Alakazam. he melts faces pretty well, and proves Koga Horribly wrong...

I really like Poliwrath. I find you can destroy things as long as you keep hypnosis and make sure you get its speed up and increase its attack because you can put things to sleep and then smash their backdoors face in. I also like Grumpig for pretty much the same reasons.

Marowak...Most people don't realize how great he can be...He was just average in Red/Blue/Yellow...But starting in Gold/Silver he can become one of the most powerful attackers in the game...Got the Thick Club which DOUBLES his attack stat...Add that to STAB Earthquake and I have a sweeper who in Soulsilver I could just send out and 1 or 2 shot ANYTHING...The only downside is that he is slow...
That's unfortuneate I managed to find 1 that had a Hasty personality while playing through Fire Red it definately helped he wasn't ridiculously fast or anything but he was first to act about 3/4 of the time.

I've always been quite partial to Dusclops, I don't like his evolution though.

He's a Ghost with beastly defenses and decent attack, the only Ghost type to have good attack I think.

Also, lolcaptcha: level medgerat

I've never heard of this "Medgerat" Poke'mon. :p

Bug Pokemon - Funny how Pokemon is just a video game adaption of Japanese bug fights yet bug Pokemon tend to be the weakest. I train them mostly for the challenge. While I think ghost/psychic/dragon/everything else is cooler, it's way too easy because all the more popular types are so overpowered.

Slacking, Machamp , smeargle,

When i used to played Diamond , i would beat almost everyone with those 3 pokemon

Protip: When slacking uses giga impact (which makes a pokemon recharge after attacking ) he recharges on the same turn he slacks off, which makes it the ideal Stab move for him for HEAVY dammage
Smeargle can make badass team. let him learn belly drum and baton pass from another pokemon with his ability move thing, and baton pass to something else with a high damage physical move.

Slackings are optional for this, I've seen someone wipe out a team of legendaries with a Bidoof using this trick.
Well what i did was , i put , trick room , destiny bond , explosion , and spore on smeargle with a focus sash. id start with trick room ( when i got hit my hp when down to one ) with trick room in play i used destiny bond (since i go 1st ) killing pokemon number one. i sent out Machamp who was EV trained in attack and HP ( with a nature to hinder speed and raise attack) with trick room in play he would always hit 1st (since i hindered his speed ) machamp can one hit ALOT of pokemon with max attack and the right move pool and a life orb xD
