I couldn't find anything to do with this, and felt that I should inform you all of this. This article frankly shocked and disgusted me.

Wow...what a fucking useless police force this country has. Also, NO OFFICERS AVAILABLE???
No, to damn busy catching burglars, obviously. (I was being sarcastic, if you couldn't tell)

Guys you have to factor in the amount of prank suicide calls they get a day. They didn't go 'oh I don't care if she dies'. Though it is pretty bad...

EDIT: Actually it seems more like the cops thing the thugs weren't as bad as they thought. And maybe the mom was 'fragile' to being with... man where are the good cops when you need em.

I know they didn't do that, but the amount of times she called before the suicide, and the following responses, as well as what had actually happened for her to call, made me very angry.

Hmm, my internetz died and somehow made a double post...?

Anyway, the actions of their force almost mirrors how useless the police force in my city, Leeds, seems to be. I've seen more police in a day in other cities than I've seen in a year here.

What about the officer who hung up on a teen girl who wanted an ambulance for her mother(I think she was undergoing a stroke or something like that) because of her potty mouth.
*shrugs* that's kinda 50/50, she has no reason to swear. And again, prank calls, most kids resort to swears when the funny levels are too low and their friends are listening.

This sounds less like a direct fail on the part of the officers and more a fail on the part of the bureaucracy surrounding them. Having said that its not like there are that many police officers in any given area. Although maybe they have some sort of rotation schedule (don't know not from there).

Dear police force,

I HOPE YOU ROT IN THE DEEPEST PIT OF YOUR OWN GRAVES. May God/Allah/Xenu have mercy on you.

Seriously, what the hell.

What?!? No reason to swear? People call the police because they have an emergency, and if it's an emergency they're certainly not going to be calm and polite. Jesus, what you rather she said? "Uh hi there, my mom's having a stroke, it'd be nice if you stopped by to help sometime soon. Thanks." If you're too thick to understand that, let Dave Chappelle explain for you:
As for the story, that's fucked up, damn incompetent officers.

"HOLY SHIT MY FUCKING MOTHER IS DYING OH MY GOD"
Some people don't intentionally slip profanity into their speech when they're stressed - it just happens.
If it was a prank, just arrest them once you get there.
We don't really know how she swore do we? It could have been "You fucking cops get your asses over here right fucking now!"

I have had to call the cops numerous times for my mom and I do go "I need an ambulance for ___" also we don't really know how she swore I'm talking about if she said "You fucking cops get your asses here don't be fucking slow she's dying holy fucking shit!"

Yes then we'll all be soooo much better off, what a waste of time all those policey boys and girls are eh, why bother?

Note the sarcasm.

Who's betting there's more to this than the police just decided to ignore her?

I am!

The police are only human - mistakes will be made, miscommunication will take place, etc. etc. Let's also not forget (which it seems a lot of people do) that they're not bloody psychic - they didn't KNOW she was going to kill herself and her daughter did they? They didn't know that and then purposefully ignore it. They made inquiries (yes they were very limited) and they tried to advise based on the situation which they had under estimated.

But we don't know the full story (you're an idiot if you think you do - the press will be selective in what they report) so it's hard to be critical. Maybe there were resource problems or a continuing limited number of officers - something I wouldn't of thought to be uncommon.

And if they've made inquiries and they've misjudged the situation (again, only human) and they think it's less severe than it is and the lady kept ringing up - it's not irrational or totally illogical to think she may be worrying too much about what is probably nothing.

To finish, this is a pretty isolated incident; a tragedy, but the blame can't just be shit on to the heads of the police officers who were involved when we don't (and probably never will) know the full history and happenings of the story.

I do recall that sotry. The cop hung up on her several times because he didn't care for her language, despite the fact that anyone in her situation would be too on-edge to care what they say. Talk about tactless.

And what's wrong with her saying that? She would obviously be scared and in a panic, seeing as how her mom was dying in front of her. That's great that you managed to stay calm, but not everybody does, and refusing that person help because they were rude, is just plain moronic.

That's sad that the police didn't do anything, but that's a pretty bad reason to kill yourself. She was being tormented by bullies and she was 38 years old? I don't want to say anything that will get me in trouble, so I'll just say that she really shouldn't have killed herself over such a silly reason.
