Wow, that poor family.
Instead of suicide they should have opted to shoot/bludgeon/burn the bullies.
From the story it appears the cops wouln't have lifted a finger against them in that case.

I think what's even worse is what the bullies actually did during that period, although this was over a period of 10 years so there must've been quite a few.

I mean, bludgeoned with an iron pipe? Pushed in front of a van? People like that have been ignored and the focus has been turned to the police. Yes, the failure to act is terrible, but just as terrible is the fact some people did those horrific things with no remorse, and that should also be addressed.

Dear police force,

I HOPE YOU ROT IN THE DEEPEST PIT OF YOUR OWN GRAVES. May God/Allah/Xenu have mercy on you.

Seriously, what the hell.
This is 21 police calls in a 15 year period. 13 of those calls were made in 2007, the year she committed suicide. Honestly, bullying is fairly low on the radar for the police.
Things came to a tragic head on October 23 after two girls had been taunting distressed Francesca outside her home and imitated her unusual walk.
In case you're wondering, that was what the last call was about. No violence, no vandalism, a cop will only respond to case like that if they have no other calls.

Holy shit..that's a little extreme though, to commit suicide like that.I really think the mom had a mental issue as well..I mean, they could've, you know, moved to another neighbourhood.
If they had no problems till they moved there, why not move out?

Well, some of the incidents like "egging the house" or "vandalising the hedge" aren't that big a deal, I can see why the police didn't care to check those out, stupid teens do that all the time. Here, the neighbours deal with these things themselves.

However, with more serious incidents like the repeated beatings of her son, I say the police definitely should've drawn the line and did something about it.

No, to damn busy catching burglars, obviously. (I was being sarcastic, if you couldn't tell)
Actually, it's the UK. They were too busy filing the paperwork.

I reckon that this country needs to stop with all the beaurocratic nonsense completely. Or, and this is actually a better idea (if slightly off-topic), take some of the people who are out of work and train them to work in offices. Then hire them at police stations up and down the country to do the paperwork and admin stuff while the actual officers go out on patrol and calls and actually do the job they're meant to do. Stop leaving it to the CSOs. Then we get lower crime rates as more police are out there catching crooks, and jobs are filled as people work in the nick (I mean office). Lower crime, lower unemployment, two problems eased at once. Simples.

I should probably try nd usurp Gordon Brown's job or something...

What about the officer who hung up on a teen girl who wanted an ambulance for her mother(I think she was undergoing a stroke or something like that) because of her potty mouth.
*shrugs* that's kinda 50/50, she has no reason to swear. And again, prank calls, most kids resort to swears when the funny levels are too low and their friends are listening.
Are you serious? Who gives a fuck if she was swearing, it was his JOB to ensure everything was well and fine, just because he has some kind of a fetish for "clean" vocabulary doesn't mean he should let them come in between him and his job to serve and protect. Yes, people do use curse words, they help relive stress. No, it does not matter.
Cops will find plenty of reasons not to answer calls, some of them pretty idiotic.
I can say it sometimes falls into the "I can't be bothered" category, sometimes into the justified "we don't have anyone available at the moment".

In this case, he probably didn't want to go to the girls house so he picked a weak excuse in case someone cared.I'm pretty sure he thought it'd never make the news and he'd be in serious trouble.

Sadly this kind of thing is very common where I live, where cops seem to be more interested in handing out traffic tickets or pick up girls.

Let's unite and form the new watchmen! I will be Rorschach :D

Seriously though, couldn't they just move out? Why suffer?

Hey, it's their job. WHether they like it or not, they CAN'T ignore someone calling for help.

It's like the fire department laws in several states. If a call comes in about a fire that needs to be put out, it's illegal for the firemen to not respond. They could face felony charges, even if they think it's a prank. You do not joke about these matters.

I'm not going to be moved by this. Unless I see more evidence, then the police are at fault.

I've read the article. Its a very sad case, but something seems off to me. Not enough from the police perspective. Nor from the neighborhood's. Only the victim's. Granted the article said that 'no police is available' and such, but that's because a Hearing is still taking place. Not all information will be revealed because of that. It doesn't answer any questions as to 'why did the police not involve themselves, if they did at all' and so forth. This could mean there are more cases, or maybe (heaven forbid) something shady within the Force itself. All I mean is, I withhold any opinion until more information is revealed. Something here is strange.

Talk about tactless.
But then suppose how bad it would be if she was faking it. They dispatch an ambulance to her, which is then needed somewhere else. This callout gets priority, and someone else dies. It's a lose/lose situation. As sad as it may be, their resources are far from limitless.

There's something fishy about this article. Not least the paper it is sourced from (For the yanks, the mirror is like Fox news on paper.). I'd lay off the criticism for a while. The police are still people, and people make mistakes, there's no use condemning the whole force.

How are you going to pay all of them?

Isn't it technically true that any citizen can put forward a proposal to parliament, so long as they have the backing of at least one MP? To the local council!

British police are far to busy doing important stuff, like saving the world, to worry about law abiding citizens. She was only getting bullied, of course, beating someone with an iron pipe isn't violence, and fucking up someones front garden/ burning the doors and gates doesn't come under vandalism. Just plain ol' simple bulling.

Another reason for hating cops,

That is to be expected, the police force doesn't help us anymore. If you want to protect your family and property from a threat, you must deal with the threat yourself...

However, the police for some reason suddenly spring into action and arrest you. In the UK that is. I heard if an intruder is in your house in America then you can deal with them.

Hmm, my internetz died and somehow made a double post...?

Anyway, the actions of their force almost mirrors how useless the police force in my city, Leeds, seems to be. I've seen more police in a day in other cities than I've seen in a year here.
