A news report I found whilst surfing the net, thought it might interest you.

The story goes like this, a 10 year old girl living in Ozark, Arkansas was behaving in an unruly manner, (when I say unruly I mean this girl was pratically a single riot) and refusing to take a shower before bed time. So to counter this her own mother called the police.

When the police arrived, the girl's mother give one of the men permission to use his taser on the girl if he really needed to.

The girl was very aggressive both physically and verbally that the police man couldn't restrain her. She even went as far as kicking him in the groin.

It was at this point, the officer delivered a quick stun to her back by using his taser.

Full story can be found in the link. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/6602043/Taser-gun-used-on-10-year-old-girl-who-refused-to-take-shower.html

So the thread question is:

Was this it a bit to much? Using a taser on a ten year old girl, all because she refused to take a shower and go to bed.

Personally I think yes, it was a bit to much and the fact that the girl's mother, had to call the police, does show signs of bad parenting on her part.

Any parent that ever, outside of some contrived moral dilemma, says it's okay for someone to taser their 10 year old should not be a parent.

It's undoubtedly the mother's fault the child was like that in the first place.

If the mother had to call the police just to get her into the shower, there was probably something wrong with the girl. Borderline or ADHD or whatever, she obviously needs professional help.

Still, there's no excuse for tasering a 10-year old.

Not even attacking a police officer?

Really though, I think we all need to calm down. Girl got tazed, she'll survive.
Get her brain scanned, get her professional counselling, and move on.

I'm more worried about the fact that the mother called the police for basically a tantrum, sounds like a waste of police time to me. Added to the fact that kids these days can be right little bastards I don't blame the policeman for cutting out at least half an hour of arguing/fighting to solve it quickly.

I blame the girl for her inappropriate behavior

I blame the mother for not doing anything and allowing the cops to use their tasers

I blame the cops for using a taser.

Was it wrong? sort of, and I blame all who were involved.

I'd say that any adult police officer unable to restrain a 10 year old girl should consider another career choice.

First of all: what kind of retarded parents calls the police when their unruly child won't showe rand go to bed?

second of all: what kind of retarded police stations answers such a call.

and last but not least, how's an officer gonna be able to handle criminals if he/she cannot handle a 10 year old girl without tasing her.

This is indeed a victory for stupidity.

I don't get how this mother got the idea of calling the police. I mean, can't her husband help her or something?
Edit: oh never mind. Divorce 'n all that.

Easy solution beat the shit out of your kids, its worked for hundreds of generations and it should work for this one.

The cop was in the right here, she assaulted him and he subdued her without causing permanent damage, with permission. Kid like this needs the crap beat out of her as do must of the children in the country

Word to Maze1125. I can't say I feel sorry for the obnoxious 10 year-old girl, but if you have to enlist police assistance to get your kid to go to bed, then the parentung issue seems more troubling than the actual tazer-ing.

Works for me. I miss the days when you were allowed to hit the little shits for being little shits.

Now, if you so much as say the wrong words, they can sue you.
I am with you on that. Sure, my daughter recognizes my "I am serious don't mess around with me" voice, but if she ever did get to that point, I should be able to spank her if necessary...

She kicked him in the groin, he shocked her very briefly with a weapon authorised to take down violent and non co-operative individuals.

What's the problem?

The problem is her dad didn't get custody and wants to use this as leverage to get it, and any lawyer with a shitty degree could put a pretty gnarly spin on this story to do this.
