It's undoubtedly the mother's fault the child was like that in the first place.
Absolutely this.

I hope that cop gets some kind of punishment for this, just because the parent says its ok does NOT make it a good idea.

If the mother had to call the police just to get her into the shower, there was probably something wrong with the girl. Borderline or ADHD or whatever, she obviously needs professional help.

Still, there's no excuse for tasering a 10-year old.
Not even attacking a police officer?

Really though, I think we all need to calm down. Girl got tazed, she'll survive.
Get her brain scanned, get her professional counselling, and move on.
You really think a grown man, trained to 'serve and protect' and to keep order, should resort to using a tazer when assaulted by a freaking 10-year old girl?

While tazers are generally considered non-lethal weapons, there have been a number of cases where people have died or have suffered serious physical injury as a result of a tazer hit. What kind of idiot uses one of those to take down a little girl? I bet the cop felt like a real man after that...

I'm not saying the cop is to take the full blame. Obviously the mother is chiefly responsible for the whole situation. But as I said, there's no reason to resort to a weapon like that against a tantruming little girl.

What's next? Using pepperspray on noisy babies?

Crap parenting, but I see why he used the taser - under assault from someone. Depends just how violent and whatnot she was whether the age factor should some onto it.

Bring back corporal punishment.

That's probably just make 'em noisier. Although I read once that a baby was tasered while its mother was trying to be captured by the police. She just lifted the baby into the line of fire, supposedly!

I have to say, I lol'd.
I can maybe see how this was justified, especially after the crotch shot. Plus, if she gets out of hand again, her mom can pick up the phone and say, "Okay, I'm calling the cops again!"

Its a 10 year old. What kind of damage can she possibly do to a fully trained cop?

I would have asked the cop if I could buy his tazer. Kids nowadays are way too pampered, you can't look at them wrong or its abuse, that's why you have so many little chodes in the internet cussing like pirates.

So glad I saw this post before some of the more... dickheaded responses. It just about sums it up. Only thing I have to add is if this persons child was out of control and they couldn't handle it they've failed royally as a parent. You don't let your kids call the shots. Second, any policeman who can't handle a 10 year old girl without using a taser is absolutely fucking pathetic and shouldn't be a cop in the first place. How the fuck are they expected to tackle real criminals?!

What I find funny is that the police couldn't restrain and 10 year old girl, so then HAD to resort to using a taser. What a joke.

If you can't subdue your child by means of sheer authority, devoid of any physical or verbal abuse then either;

A) Your child is in need of help beyond your capabilities.

Or more likely.

B) You're a lousy parent.

Never underestimate a good old groin kick.

Still, there's something wrong with the mother or the child if she has to call the police. But tazer her? That's a bit too much.

My feelings are slightly contradictory here.

Harming a child is wrong. I have always and will always believe that, but in this case, I don't think this was wrong. To subdue a child who is violent, how else could the officer have handled the situation? He couldn't have hit her and he couldn't have tranquilized her.

Beyond that, unless the child has psychological problems, she's a shitty parent. Parents should have enough control over their child to avoid having to call the police.

your god dam right it was the mother's fault. I remember when I wouldn't listen to my parents when I was little I was reprimanded with physical force. I got hit as a child yeah, but I turned out fine. I feel no sympathy for the child or parents when their child is in the middle of the isle at a store because the child wants a toy and they throw a temper tantrum, if I did that when I was a kid o boy would I get it later.

Two words:
Horse Tranquiliser! 8D

Anyway, people who can't be decent parents shouldn't be parents in the first place.
There should be some sort of global test all people would have to take in order to become parents. If they absolutely want to, of course.

I think that was the most hilarious young-abuse article I have read on this forum in the last month. If I had a kid that bat-shit, up-the-wall crazy, and she was attacking people over the mere notion of getting wet and sudsy, then calling the police would be a brilliant idea. Teach that brat a lesson or two.

And it's not like it's the end of the world. The mother gave permission and tasers can be set to different levels of jolt. This was not something akin to the police unfairly tasering an eighty year old because she tried to use her purse as a deadly weapon.

If this failed to teach the girl a lesson, I'm certain that she will either spend a night in jail next or find herself planted in a mental institution for a few weeks until they drug her into enough of a zombified state that she no longer has the ability to think about violence.

I agree, everyone involved need to have their head examined.
