'The Nanny State' ... a creation of an education system which prides on making everyone feel they are the best at all known things. However is it going to far when traditional childhood nursery rhymes like 'Blah Blah Black Sheep' are banned.

There is your bone for today children ... discuss :D

Little disclamer - this isn't an invitation to be racist it's a discussion about political correctness. Keep that in mind before you post please.

Bah Bah Black Sheep was banned? When? How? Sources? Massive, massive confusion, and my entire argument just dissappeared from my head in a wave of disbelief and bemusement. Secondly, this 'Nanny State' thing is a creation of the Daily Torygraph, in an attempt to sell more newspapers and motivate the public to vote Conservative in elections. It's classic scare-mongering tactics - they frighten people that things are changing, and indeed that that change is for the worse.

Still, I must admit a dislike of PC, but on my part, I've yet to have any problems, despite making racial, sexist and in general, acting in bad taste, so I'd say that the whole things a lot of crap made up to sell papers.

It's a rather stupid way to do things in general. Everyone grows up with a false sense of entitlement thanks to schools like that, where they're all raised to believe they're the best at everything and can obtain anything with a little bit of hope. They're wholly unprepared for the real world, where someone is and always will be better than you at pretty much everything. Tough shit, deal with it - oh wait, you don't know how to, because being second best goes against everything you were ever taught.

PC went to far, when it started, there racism, then there normal then there just being stupid. Treating minorities like they are fragile eggs is still an insult. As far as I see it who you are makes no difference, no saying I'm black! I'm white, your not, your human and if I dislike you its because your you, not that you Indian. Quote form Friday.

Friend "Hey I'm the only black person in this class"
Me "And nobody gives a shit about what colour you are now shut up."

True story: Bloke my dad used to work with was from Pakistan and he wanted to open a shop, but the county council refused to let him set up shop because he wanted to call it "The Paki Shop". Ridiculous. What was wrong with him calling it that if he, a pakistani, did not find it an offensive word? Political correctness is smothering this country.

What's that noise? I think it's the Daily Mail and Express readers howling this at the moon. To be honest, if it bothers you that a nursery rhyme is being banned then you have far worse problems. Political correctness isn't great, but its not something to get worked up about. Nobody is forcing you as an individual to be politically correct. If people started realising we're all the same bloody species then maybe we wouldn't need it.

Well.....as much as I don't like to talk about these things online for that same reason (being accused of being a racist if the world black is even mentioned etc...) I do think banning nursery rhymes is a bit too far.
If you think about it, by not talking about something you make it sound special.
say you want a I-pod but your parents say you can't have one, your parents say"no..end of discusion"
you might not need or even use a i-pod if you had one...But..If your like most people, the want you have for that I-pod is now magnified so much that it might as well be gold plated.

Yeah cause it teaches kids to isolate the minority (made all the worse cause its a "black" sheep) Or something like that.

You never went to school did you?

In school, someone is always better than you at everything. If not, then I'm pretty sure you'll get far in life.
