Politicians on Facebook: 'Anime is A Prime Example of Why Two Nukes Just Wasn't Enough'

According to Nick Levasseur the Democratic Representative for Manchester New Hampshire's Facebook Page he has some serious issues with Anime.

He has obviously since issued an apology:

I would like to hear thoughts on this statement. What anime may have caused this outburst? Does this guy have a habit of "Open Social Network/Mouth, inset foot"?

and how long until these controversies become so common as to no longer be controversial?

Anyway, in answer to your post, the guy is clearly not the sharpest tool in the shed, and presumably is referring to Hentai. He's heard about it, hasn't done the research, put what he thought was a pithy comment on facebook, and is suprised to discover that people aren't laughing. Hopefully, it will be a good lesson to his colleagues. Watch what you say online. Particularly if it's stupid/racist.

Anyway, most modern anime is to me a good example of the long term damage that the two nukes caused. Stick thin super powered 14 year olds with bright pink hair and who all act friggin retarded? Definitely sounds like a result of long term brain damage to me.

Nah. The shounen-jump crap with incredibly shitty voice dubs and censor scars is terrible, yes (usually even before the censors get at em), but there's a decent amount of quality anime out there. It's typically more of the "mature" stuff, but that's not necessarily true.

But then, 99.5% of all TV shows, anime, live action, American or Japanese, are incredibly stupid and a colossal waste of time. Just gotta have the patience to find the good stuff.

Not to be rude against the republicans, I'm not even American. But you guys (I'm assuming you are republican) have a particularly dumb/racist fringe minority which can usually largely be discounted. They have a habit of saying things like this, to the embarassment of the GOP, which I am well aware aren't just cartoon villains. The left are more techno savvy and usually have enough awareness of technology not to do something as dumb as this.
