To anyone who wants to build great abs, if you have low body fat and are pretty strong i reccomend high intensity workouts, basically extremely strenuous movements that you would only do a few reps off e.g. haning leg raises, around the worlds and window whipers.

Lately I've been thinking about getting a six pack, but I keep from doing anything about because I always think of how much I will have to work in order to obtain and maintain them.

So I ask you Escapist, what do you think about teh six-pack abs?
Well i have been working on them for about 2 months now and i got some sold 4 pack and so far it's been worth it.

Guys that have a six-pack obviously spend waaaaay too much time worrying about their appearance. That's not attractive to me at all in the same way that I hate girls that are wearing too much make up.

Do what you want. If you want proper buffness you'll need to put a ton of work into it, but general healthiness and a not-quite-so-defined sixpack is easier and better looking.

I'm a bit too lithe to look mega-buff, but I'm fairly strong and there's not a great deal of fat on me because I do a lot of exercise. Personally, I like this best, because I don't look too intimidating or thuggish.

This reminds me of an old friend of mine. He worked out every day after school in hopes of becoming more muscular literally for the reason of trying to impress girls. The irony is that since he spent almost all of his free time working out, he never really got close enough to go out or get any action from any girls. I, on the other hand, never worked out a day in my life and while he was working out, I was doing my own work out... in bed! (Bow chicka Bow Wow)

In short, if you are trying to get 6 packs in order to impress people, its not worth the effort because anyone who likes you solely for appearances is a twit who isn't worth your time.

Why settle with a 6-pack when you can have an 8-pack?

Now that's guy tried way too hard and then said, "I can make it worse!"

The veins popping out below his belly button...disconcerting.

OT: I actually like a man with a tiny bit of fat around his middle, or just flat and solid. Makes for a much better pillow than something I could grate cheese on.

I'm working to build my core strength for martial arts, and if I happen to get a six pack along the way, whoop-de-do.

It's not so much for looks as being able to kick ass more efficiently.

i've been going to the gym and body building for several months now, and it is a lot of work, but you will look and feel incredible. its a real sense of accomplishment to be able to do verticle sit ups with a medicine ball, or benchpress 200+ pounds.

i by no means have a 6-pack, but i'm not aiming for one, theres a huge difference in the training regiment for it. there is alot more cardio involved in getting cut enough to have a 6-pack. i could definately have one, but i still have some bulk on me because i eat ALOT f protien to keep my strength up, so my "6-pack" doesnt show through.

whether your aiming for a 6-pack or not, stay healthy, work out to feel good. its a lot of work but you feel amazing. you'll see progress, and whether its a cut abs or not, brag about having more muscle, or being toned, or running for 2 hours straight. you put in the hard work to get there, brag a little bit, it sounds egotistical, but for all the effort you put in to get there, you deserve to be.

do all cardio to be very slim and cut. weight train and cardio in balance to be muscular and cut. focus on body building with enough cardio to keep weight off and be healthy for your heart, and you'll be big, have a crazy abs, pecks, and arms, but they wont be as defined

I've got a six pack as a natural form of daily training and they seem to help when getting kicked in the abdomen but seriously I didn't train to get a six pack I train because I enjoy the boxing, if I didn't enjoy the boxing or the six pack didn't come to me naturally from training I wouldn't bother getting working for one to be honest, I tend to wear clothes so I don't show it off most the days and it's not the big chick magnet every one makes them out to be.
