Yeah, you know the subject.
I've been re-watching old cartoon intros and the thought that those, while sometimes poorly animated, were in general much better than what we have on tv these days.
I was curious if it's just my nostalgia kicking in or if other people have the same idea.

EDIT: anime not included.anime is a different story, as the animation market is behind, thus it's now getting good.

I only made this thread for 90s series as I was having a debate with someone. If you want, I can make an 80s one too.

90s Cartoons, as they're more important to my childhood. The new ones seem completely alien to me.

90s by far, I grew up with them.
All the cartoons now are so politically correct, censored, bloody health and safety warnings.
It was much better when someone would jump in an oven and kids would copy them because they're stupid.
However, I do like Fairly Odd Parents and Spogebob. New cartoons are crap, but I imagine teenagers thought Power puff girls and Johnny Bravo were crap too.

90's obviously.

Sailor Moon > Shuriken Academy (or whatever it's called)

Metabots!:D

Old Pokemon > New Pokemon

Digimon! :D

Shin Chan! (though it wasn't technically a full cartoon...)

I realize now that most (all) of them are anime, but whatever.

Oh wait! Tom and Jerry! ^^

Both are kinda good., older ones that were classics were courage the cowardly dog, while the 00's have flapjack.

the 90's were pretty awesome, but they didn't have Phineas and Ferb and Spongebob only came on in '99

so draw?

I forgot to post my opinion:

You dare compare the likes of Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and Ed, Edd, n' Eddy with the likes of Flapjack and Chowder?

How dare you.

90's

The 00 cartoons seem to be more about shock value, what lewd thing can we show/do next.

We have friggen Gargoyles, AND Darkwing Duck. What more do I need to say?
Earthworm Jim? Animaniacs? c'mon.

I do have to admit, kids today have some pretty good shows. Avatar: The Last Airbender had me hooked.

But every Avatar, they have 3 Spngebobs.
For every 4 awesome shows we have 1 AHHHH!! Real Monsters!

The 90's cartoons still had at least some creativity involved before today which is pretty much the same cookie cutter premises with crap 3d or corny dialogue. Yes 3d is a new technological development that can be used to a good extent but its in no way as visually apealing as the old 2d stylized cartoons.

The 90's had:

Batman: The Animated Series
Animaniacs
Pinky and the Brain
Darkwing Duck
Earthworm Jim

Amongst many others. The 90's win.
